Ron Zacapa XO Rum is produced in the highlands of Guatemala where it is distillled from fresh cane juice. The rum is then aged from 6 to 23 years at 7544 feet above sea level at 62 °F (17 °C) using the solera process. The solera aging process incorporates barrels that previously held American whiskeys, sherries, wines and Cognac
The unique Ron Zacapa XO glass decantur features an impression of a woven band around the middle, which is in reference to the original hand woven palm leaf petate bottle cover that covered the bottle

Love this sipper and is one of my go-tos when available at the bar; the only problem is most every day bars around me do not stock this. I always make it a point to tell them THEY NEED TO!
This is an excellent rum without a doubt but for the price, I would take Zafra any time. It has a nice balance of sweetness and a smooth burn and is very easy to drink.
Very good rum at 8.5 points. The taste is good, the finish is slightly sharp. It has a lot of competition in its price category. I know better rums for that money.
Really nice and rounded rum, smooth feeling and perfect sweetness
Well. I was expecting more. It's not as well rounded as one would be expecting. It's good? Yes. Great? Not really. Worth the money? Doubt so.
Efter min mening den bedste Zacapa

And if I was reviewing this spirit as a Cognac, I would have rated it as a 9!
But I am reviewing this as a Rum, since that is what it is represented to be. And on that score it fails miserably! Indeed, I would have rated it even lower than a 6, but it is a fine quality spirit, to be sure, so my final rating reflects that.
But if you are wishing to drink a fine Rum, this is not it! You can barely taste the Rum, so overpowering was the effect of the Cognac Barrel, at the last of the aging process.
Its a good rum however you can get plenty of other bottles much cheaper.
scent: first note is banana, followed by cofee and spices.
Taste: First comes very sweet aromas of some kind of sugar. Later the flavours develops into a mixture of spices, banana and licourice.
Personal score: 8.5-8.8
This is an amazing rum, medium+ in taste, richness and darkness. I guess it only lacks a small bit of complexity to reach a higher score. In my opinion Zacapa XO is better than the Zacapa Royal.

It is rich with coffee notes and a little tobacco.

Quite expensive but a great bottle. The nose is strong with a lot a sweet. It is more straight forward than the Millonario XO for example and delivers it's power with a bit less subtility (that being good or bad depending on your taste).
A great Rum but not perfect. Overpriced I find...
