Ron Zacapa XO Rum is produced in the highlands of Guatemala where it is distillled from fresh cane juice. The rum is then aged from 6 to 23 years at 7544 feet above sea level at 62 °F (17 °C) using the solera process. The solera aging process incorporates barrels that previously held American whiskeys, sherries, wines and Cognac
The unique Ron Zacapa XO glass decantur features an impression of a woven band around the middle, which is in reference to the original hand woven palm leaf petate bottle cover that covered the bottle

Super lækker, en fornøjelse at få i munden. Sød, uden at være for sød, lækker eftersmag.
Prøv at slynge den voldsom rundt i munden, og få endnu mere smagsnuancer, og en ekstrem lang eftersmag ☺
A very good rum indeed. Smooth, not overly sweet with a nice and slightly dry complex finish. Let it breath a bit in the glass, to open up the palate. My tastebuds are missing a little something at the price point though.
Dejlig rund rom, dog stadig med lidt kant.
Alle kender Ron Zacapa 23 som lige nu 2014 ikke er nogen speciel oplevelse. Prøv denne i stedet.
Don't let the elegant decanter bottle fool you, it is much better than that! I love Ron Zacapa Solera 23, so when I tried this I tasted this straight up and with Glencairn Whiskey Glass. Just like the RZS23, the flavors change with each waited sip. Remarkable quality and will make snobby Brandy/Cognac drinkers respect rum. Will only drink this on special occasions because it deserves that respect.
My favourite rum so far! Smooth without being harsh, woody without being dull. Dates soaked in this rum with grape on a cracker is rum food perfection!
I got this for a relatively good price of $49, I have seen it for $80-100 in most places.
I like this better than the 23 yr which I find a little sweet for my taste, though both are very good. (Both are significantly sweetended with added sugar.) Not sure I would rebuy it even for the price I paid, but it was great to try once.
Gorgeous bottle / decanter with a classy heavy stopper.
Similar to the 23yr the XO has many of the same elements that come through probably due to the solera ageing only this time its older and has more of woody nose with more of a hint of tobacco and rich caramel. Still beautifully smooth with that long, lingering finish.
Very Smooth with a fantastic depth of flavour really a special rum. Quite pricey and not necessarily easy to come across but you get what you pay for here.
My third rum from Ron Zacapa tonight. The XO with 40% ABV
Nose : Fruity notes, wine, caramel, vanilla , hints from coffee. Pleasant, but nothing special
Palate : sweet and mild, caramel, rumraisin chocolate. Yeah ... good, totally my taste
Finish : medium to long, mouth-filling intensive, mild with sweet honey notes.
Conclusion : well, let's say, it's really a good one. Totally meets my taste. All flavors are very present. But ... not for 100 € and more. That is too much if you compare it with the Zacapa 23.
Normally 9 points but 1 point less for the high price, that is not warrantable
Excellent taste, sophisticated, might even describe a bit light(ish) without being diluted, flavourous, slightly sweet, not too much of alcohol burn.

It is rich with coffee notes and a little tobacco.

Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Quite expensive but a great bottle. The nose is strong with a lot a sweet. It is more straight forward than the Millonario XO for example and delivers it's power with a bit less subtility (that being good or bad depending on your taste).
A great Rum but not perfect. Overpriced I find...
