Ron Zacapa 23 Solera Rum was created in 1976 in the highlands of Guatemala, where it is distilled in a copper-lined column still from fresh cane juice before solera aging.
The 500 year-old Spanish Sistema Solera method is used to age Ron Zacapa 23 in white oak casks. This results in a combination of rums aged between 6 and 23 years.
The current Ron Zacapa 23 bottle features a woven band around the middle, which is in reference to the original hand woven palm leaf petate bottle cover that covered the bottle.

Very flat rum taste. For 23 years It is very sharp on tongue. I know that this rum is made with solera method but still much sharper than for example Presidente 21.
It is not sweet not too spiced. Just basic rum flavour. Good for mixed drinks but a bit expensive for such use. Otherwise I don't know why I should buy It.
It was my first rum ever. After some tastings, i can say itโs a great one to begin the adventure. Itโs has a nice sweet taste, not to sweet, just right. I like a lot the little smell of alcohol and the smooth burn on the tongue!

Smooth, nose and taste of molasses.
Excellent for. Simple daiquiri. Reminds me of Dictador 25 Yr.

First taste is quite sweet and then strong smokey and barrelly notes kick in. At the end the taste changes to a bit waterry and thin.

Great tasting rum! Though it is a sweet rum, it has a really good and nuanced taste in my opinion.
