Guatemala | Aged | 40% ABV | Column Still (1-4)

Ron Zacapa 23 Solera Rum was created in 1976 in the highlands of Guatemala, where it is distilled in a copper-lined column still from fresh cane juice before solera aging.

The 500 year-old Spanish Sistema Solera method is used to age Ron Zacapa 23 in white oak casks. This results in a combination of rums aged between 6 and 23 years.

The current Ron Zacapa 23 bottle features a woven band around the middle, which is in reference to the original hand woven palm leaf petate bottle cover that covered the bottle.

When I first began to enjoy rum, this was the first bottle of good stuff I purchased. It is very sweet, a nice dark color, and has an inviting aroma. I have not purchased in a while mainly due to the fact that this was the first step on a journey through many bottles of rum However, I find most decent bars & dining establishments will have this... IF they have any rum worthy of drinking. Even my Dad, who is first and foremost a wino, a bloody mary, and a gin & tonic kind of guy found this to be quite good. Nothing Rare, but always delivers.

Ce rhum de Zacapa possède l'essentiel des qualités et particularités de la gamme Zacapa offert à un prix abordable. Il faut lui faire honneur en le dégustant sans mélange et chambré, en ballon.

Oooh, YEAH !!! This one was my first real foray into the world of premium rums, and it was then that my palate realized what it had been missing; caramel sweetness & mild vanilla flavors lead the way, with a super-smooth finish that doesn't disappoint. Straight-up, maybe with a little ice (one cube only) and we be very happy, indeed. Cheers!

The rum is fine. Sweet wtih nuts and oak tones, but there are lots of better choices in this price category.

This rum is very smooth and sippable. I would rate it higher, but it lacks a bit in the nose. It would make for a great high-end cocktail, no doubt. If you want to try the Zacapa line but are short on cash, this rum will give you the smoothness of its older siblings.
