Bacardi Oakheart rum

Bacardi Oakheart

DA
had this rum recently

United States | Spiced | 35% ABV

Launched in 2011, Bacardi Oakheart is the newest addition to the extensive Bacardi collection.

This spiced rum is aged for 1 to 2 years, filtered using a proprietary process, and then flavored with various spices including maple, nutmeg, cinnamon and honey.

Bacardi Oakheart took over two years to name and more than 2700 names were considered. The winner, Oakheart, is a reference to the charred American white oak barrels that house the rum while it ages.

This rum takes me back to my early 20s, when rum for me was Captain Morgan and Bacardi. This used to be one of my favourites too mix with coke.
Wouldn't even think about trying it straight up.

Great spiced Rum smooth finish and as rums go great price for the flavour

Even though this is a spiced rum, it's fairly light. Definitely very smooth and has plenty of flavor. The oak is there, but not overpowering. Good rum to have around.

A store near where I live bought 100 cases, after a year they sent back 85 cases. That says something to me. Doesn't mix well. Plus they don't even let you into the distillery in PR for a tour unlike all of the distilleries in the States. Very Bad move in my mind, waste of time, don't do the tour unless you like to sit in a room and watch a 8 min video on how rum is made. I can watch Modern Marvels and get more info that this tour.

A very good spiced rum. It tastes great with cola. Bacardi took their game up a notch with this one.

The Bacardi Oakheart is a very sweet spiced rum with a strong vanilla taste.

So this new spiced contestant for me is smack bang in the middle of the park. A good few are much better (Elements 8, Chairmans etc), but it certainly, for me beats the usual suspects sitting in most bars (Morgans, New Sailor Jerry etc) You get the usual from a spiced with honey and vanilla leading the way with cinnamon, pepper and maple hinting in the background.

I used this and added 4 ounces of vanilla beans to it to make a vanilla extract. The flavor is amazing, I used 4 ounces of vanilla beans for a double fold vanilla. I've used white rum, Evan Williams bourbon, black velvet 8 year old reserve, Jason Mamoa vodka and the oakheart, it was by far the bast extract I've made so far and will be starting another batch this weekend as it has to age 1 year.

В аромате ваниль и дуб, во вкусе мёд, корица и сладость. Очень сладко!

Velmi priemerne pitie. Mozno by som to ani nenazval rumom, ale prezentuju sa tak. Velmi vonave ale chvost alkoholovy. Skusal som to aj nechat otvorit, no to len umocnilo aditiva.
V arome sa snazia nejakym sposobom navonit aromu sudu ale je to len umele, tak isto aj chut.

It was next to whatever non-spiced rum i wanted to buy (both in 1.75l "handles"). This wound up in my cart somehow instead of the other one (cheap bacardi gold unflavored, I think). I'd rate the gold a 5. This was as 'meh' only with the addition of some cheap spice flavor that I didn't care for, so it's at best a '4'. Barcardi is a turd of a rum distillery. I learned this on a tour in San Juan. Avoid that tour; it's garbage.
