Bacardi Oakheart

United States | Spiced | 35% ABV

Launched in 2011, Bacardi Oakheart is the newest addition to the extensive Bacardi collection.

This spiced rum is aged for 1 to 2 years, filtered using a proprietary process, and then flavored with various spices including maple, nutmeg, cinnamon and honey.

Bacardi Oakheart took over two years to name and more than 2700 names were considered. The winner, Oakheart, is a reference to the charred American white oak barrels that house the rum while it ages.

I like spiced rums, and had higher hopes for this one. Sweet on the nose like apricot and overripe banana, there's an oily mouth feel with a syrupy sweetness. It's drinkable in a rum and coke, but not something you would drink straight or feature in a cocktail.

I was going to throw the half bottle of this I had left away because I remember it being so bad, but when I revisited it I found that it actually had a bit of depth, especially for the price (I think I got it for like 8 dollars). Better than regular Bacardi, which just tastes like gasoline to me- I'll use it for a light rum punch down the road.

For a cheap rum, it’s OK - a little sweeter than i like, but still drinkable

This is the most affordable spiced rum I can get that doesn't give me bad headaches (Sailor Jerry). I use it in cocktails. Like many of the cheaper/more budget-friendly spiced rums I've tried, vanilla is the most promient spice (both aroma and taste-wise). I'm planning to add a few just-toasted pieces of cassia to a bottle & see what happens.

Příjemný spiced rum, opravdu kořeněný. Někomu snad může vadit přílišná kořeněná chuť. Chuť bych přirovnal žvýkačce z České republiky - Pedro. K popíjení při letních večerech snad zatím nejlepší spiced rum.

Rum drink not rum. Basics. If nothing else I don’t mind a bit of oakheart

Nice sweet taste of Ron. It is good rum for drink as it is and also is good to be a mixed in a drink.

Another offering from Captain Morgan that won’t dissappoint rum drinkers who prefer the aged oak flavor. Similar to the standard cap’n silver, but with added Mollasses and sugar notes, and added oak flavor. This one goes well with a cola. Wouldn’t recommend sipping. Enjoy

So picture this, an Australian in USA goes to the bar asks what rum they have ..... guess who made a very recurring appearance ? This guy. At first I wasn't too impressed, however after a few you kinda get used to the taste , even for a non spiced fan. I did polish off a bottle whilst in Florida, good times.
