Bacardi Gold rum

Bacardi Gold

constructionlawva avatar image had this rum recently

United States | Gold | 40% ABV

Bacardi Gold rum is manufactured in Puerto Rico where it is distilled from fermented molasses. It is then filtered through charcoal and aged in charred oak barrels for between 1 and 2 years. Unlike Bacardi Superior, Bacardi Gold is only filtered once.

Bacardi's official logo, a fruit bat, dates to 1862 when founder Don Facundo Bacardi found fruit bats living in rafters of the building he bought to house the distillery. Bats are considered an omen of good luck in Cuba and have emblazoned Bacardi rum bottles ever since.

Solo para tragos donde el ron no sea el sabor principal. Piรฑa colada, coco loco, mojito ok. Cuba libre, no tanto. Y con agua jamรกs...

All my ratings in here comes from straight up.
This is dreadfull for that.
Nose is OK, some vanilla, some spices and weak touch of fruit the alcohol dominates though.
Taste is dreadfull: Alcohol, more alcohol, dominates the plate
Aftertaste: some oak and a burn..

NOT for sipping... Blend only. Dreadfull balance.

Better than any white rum, not really a sipping rum.

Not bad as a rum and coke and a lot more flavour than the superior , better still buy the Barcardi 8 , its worth the extra.

Sugar: 0 to 5 gpl. The Bacardi Gold Rum is a small notch higher than the Bacardi white rum. While not good enough to be used as a sipping rum, it's good enough for mixed drinks. I would choose this over the white for mixed drinks, but there are better rums out there for mixing. If you are on a budget and serving to rum and coke drinkers, then pick this one.

Aging in casks for two years doesn't do much for one of the worlds most popular rums. It is still rather bland and missing the rich vanilla and caramel hints that you usually get from similar style rums.

Of the many rums I have tried(near 100 different types), this is by far my least favorite. Branding is all it has going for it. The strong scent of rubbing alcohol it has over powers any taste it might have. Be it straight or in a mixed drink, this will be a sure way to ruin the flavor. I can tell if this is what a bartender used by only sniffing a mixed drink. I am sure gasoline has a similar aftertaste.

Makes a decent Rum and Coke. Not smooth enough for sipping.

I stick to the other opinions and recommend it to mix. You won't enjoy it straight up- to be fair: i think/hope this rum isn't meant to
