Bacardi Gold rum is manufactured in Puerto Rico where it is distilled from fermented molasses. It is then filtered through charcoal and aged in charred oak barrels for between 1 and 2 years. Unlike Bacardi Superior, Bacardi Gold is only filtered once.
Bacardi's official logo, a fruit bat, dates to 1862 when founder Don Facundo Bacardi found fruit bats living in rafters of the building he bought to house the distillery. Bats are considered an omen of good luck in Cuba and have emblazoned Bacardi rum bottles ever since.

You definitely can't drink this straight up and even adding coke to it doesn't mask the flavour. Smells like rum, tastes like starch. Avoid.
I can't think of any situation where I'd resort to this. Seriously, I'd drink gin instead.

Can be good also in mixed drinks, but is not my favourite for Cuba Libre mix. Nothing special

Tout comme son frère, le Bacardi Superior, ce rhum est à boire en cocktail, pour un bon Cuba Libre. Mais voilà, ça s'arrête là..

If you're trying to impress your friends that buy cheap white rum, the gold color will do it, but that's all that it's good for. Doesn't really deserve to be called rum.
Great with cola.
Straight up - not good for me - 2/10
With cola - classic Cuba Libre - 8/10
Average - 5/10

My local watering hole has this as the well rum so I can't complain for the price I pay for
