Bacardi 8 rum

Bacardi 8

United States | Aged | 40% ABV

Bacardi 8-Year is a blended rum, filtered using the Bacardi-pioneered charcoal filtering system and aged for eight years.

This rum was not released to the public until 1995, when the first limited edition Bacardi 8 was sold with a sherry oak finish in a Baccarat crystal decanter. Despite a price tag of $400 per bottle, the rum was hugely popular and led to the larger release of the blend without the collectors' features and price.

Seems Bacardi can if they want. Dark aged rum, goes down easily. Not the most complex allthough it was nice to mix with. Price is not to bad either.

Nice dark rum as a base for a Cocktail or long drink.

Some say it is a sipping rum but I tried and don't agree. The Bacardi website claims it has refined flavour, notes of prune, apricot, nutmeg and vanilla. I don't taste all that, but happy to drink this aged rum with a mixer. My mate Chris reckons it gave him a killer hangover after we hit a bottle of it hard one night and he won't touch it again.

5.5 on my scale, but bottles aren't half full or empty here. First tried in Puerto Rico at the factory. A nice surprise given my past experiences with the brand.

One of the better Bacardi drops I have sampled. I usually mix so I tend to stay at the low end of the price range . This one retains some of the flavours in the white but has a whole range of other nicer characters mixed in which the white lacks

Ja så. Kom der lidt farve i flasken og den er absolut bedre end den hvide. Så ok til cola.

While not the best available to sip neat, Bacardi 8 is one of my favorite rums to mix with ginger beer or tonic...and I am not one to waste much mixer with a rum this good.! It's high quality at a very reasonable price.

Colour: gold. Nose: lightt, with touches of vanilla, sugar cane syrup, and ripe bananas. At least this Bacardi does not seem to wear too much make up. Mouth: smooth, feels sweetish at first, with a sour oaky side (peppery tannins), then we have vanilla and corn syrup. A little cinnamon. Finish: short, with quite some oak, as if the spirit was too light to stand this much oak.
