Bacardi 8-Year is a blended rum, filtered using the Bacardi-pioneered charcoal filtering system and aged for eight years.
This rum was not released to the public until 1995, when the first limited edition Bacardi 8 was sold with a sherry oak finish in a Baccarat crystal decanter. Despite a price tag of $400 per bottle, the rum was hugely popular and led to the larger release of the blend without the collectors' features and price.

interesting thing, have tried a lot of bacardi rum and it is still weak. Much better rums you can get. WE feel a lot oaf alcohol, karmel wit a bit of industrial taste, you can fell easily that two promos are separately. Don't know how they do it but bacardi is still bot good for me.
I live in Puerto Rico now, so I am enjoying working my way through Caribbean Rums one by one. Even though this is officially an eight year-old Rum. But the specs on this one state that eight is the youngest Rum in the bottle. Normal Bacardi leaves me flat (at best). But being that Bacardi is made here in Puerto Rico, I wanted to explore their broader range of Spirits outside the mass market firewater available on the middle shelves of the mainland mega-marts.
What a pleasant surprise! Excellent body, good legs, drops cling like gems to the side of the glass. Full of vanilla, orange zest, and toffee notes along with a hint of pineapple and toasted oak. The high rating is a function of quality AND of value. I paid about US $25 and would have paid above $30 (shhhhh ... don't tell them).

Relatively well balanced, nice smokey aroma, no after burn, not sweet. Bacardi 8 surpises.

Nice starter for aged rums. Come back to it often to reset my palate.
Color - Golden caramel.
Body - Not thick, not thin.
Aroma - Caramel, vanilla, soft leather, apple
Flavor - Stroopwaffle, caramel, vanilla
Mouthfeel - Medium thin syrup
Finish - Cedar, White pepper
Balance - OK
Smooth, Quality Rum. but It tastes exactly what people think rum tastes like.nothing is too special about it.

Pre mňa bol tento rum naozaj úvod do sveta lepších rumov. Ide o mierne ostrejší rum,no s peknym dúhovým charakterom. Vhodný samotný i s ľadom,prípadne k cigare. Pre ľudí ,ktorí s rumami začínajú a nechcú sa hneď na začiatok "presadiť" odporúčam.

Quite surprised with the taste. A bit strong, but overall a good taste. Never thought I'd say that about a bacardi...

Smells sweet but also oaky.
"It is a well balanced rum. When sipped, or mixed with a little ice or water the Bacardi 8 is very decent. It’s very smooth and easy to sip."

This is a review of Bacardi 8 from the Bahamas. A recent purchase at one of the local state liquor outlets. The other outlet in town has the Puerto Rico made 8 which I have not sampled.
Sweet alcohol in the nose. Smooth with good warmth. Light/medium body. Not hot. Hints of fruit, caramel and vanilla. Quite a surprise to me as I would not have expected a Bacardi to be this good at this price range. For the money I'd recommend it as a good every day sipper and as a rum to mix in drinks asking for a fuller flavored rum. I'll get another bottle to put in the cabinet before they exhaust their stock of the Bahamas made product.
