The Abuelo 12 years is a very good balanced rum. Not too sweet with a nice spicy touch from the wood. You can even taste a hint of smoke in it. It reminds me of some good single malt scotch whiskys.

Pěkná ovocitá vůně s náznakem čokolády. Chuťově jemný s kávovými a smetanovými tóny v dochuti. Velmi dobrý rum, kterému nic nechybí, ale který mě vlastně ani ničím nepřekvapil.
Mix it, dont mix it, this rum knows who it is and doesnt get lost in the shuffle. You sense the oak for sure. Sip it, slowly, you'll enjoy it, a strong personality.

This is my best sipping rum so far. You can small the oak barrels it had been aged in strait when it hits the glass. Use that time to smell all the aromas and completely that this rum contains. Look at it's dark body and how is elegantly moves around your glass like a fine bodied black women. The only way to enjoy this rum is NEAT as soon as it hits you lips you should taste Oak, Molasses, Vanilla and other fines flavors that your pallet would pick up. This rum has made me rise my standards for rum drinking (If it not 12 years + don't make the cut), I hope you enjoy this rum as much as I do.

This rum was the best in this price category. Not sharp. Full body taste, balanced sweetness. Simply best for me. Actually my favourite.

After my initial introduction to the fabulous 7-years old Abuelo some years ago, the time had come for me to get to know its 12-years old brother, my expectations being really high....but the awakening was rather rude! Although it's older, it's even sweeter, and if in the case of the 7-years old the balance between dryness-sweetness is succeeded in an exemplary manner, here in our case we are talking about an intense sugary palate, a feature that covers nearly everything else. Yes, it is a pleasant rum after all, but I wouldn't prefer my rum to be as sweet as a birthday cake!
