he Abuelo 12-year is a remarkably well-balanced rum that will please any rum lover. Itβs one of those rums that tastes old beyond its yearsβfar better than some much older rums in my bar. The flavors are multi-layered, but not overly complex, and at $35, this is a bottle that wonβt break the bank. Whatβs not to love?
I will definitely buy another bottle... Little bit of sweet and spicy at the end. Great choice
nez banane flambΓ©e, boiser
bouche direct sur le bois mais doux et fruitΓ© presque sucrΓ©, chaleur qui enveloppe la langue comme une liqueur presque soilleuse ,
This rum has a very sharp alcohol smell, the taste is light fruity.
Great rum to go along with a cigar. Very similar to diplomatico reserva exclusiva but slightly less surupy and more woodsy. Also like a smoother sweeter pampero anniversario. Good rum but for the price I'll stick to diplomatico or some Dictador with my smokes.
No trip to Panama is complete without bringing home a couple bottles. Slightly harsh for sipping, but it does work with cigars. It is a great mixer
Clear and Medium Amber color. .
Clean nose, not very strong, with medium aromas of caramel and burnt sugar.
Medium sweetness, with a Mouth-filling and warming texture. Light with flavors of Molasses which lasts for a Long length and Simple on the finish.
Good quality.

Abuelo created a nice complex sipper. Though a little more on the pricey side, it offers a decent example of a fine rum from Panama meant to be enjoyed neat.
Five rums to which you would never add Coca-Cola

After my initial introduction to the fabulous 7-years old Abuelo some years ago, the time had come for me to get to know its 12-years old brother, my expectations being really high....but the awakening was rather rude! Although it's older, it's even sweeter, and if in the case of the 7-years old the balance between dryness-sweetness is succeeded in an exemplary manner, here in our case we are talking about an intense sugary palate, a feature that covers nearly everything else. Yes, it is a pleasant rum after all, but I wouldn't prefer my rum to be as sweet as a birthday cake!
