Pyrat XO Rum is produced from nine different Caribbean rums that are blended and then aged up to 15 years in used American sweet oak barrels.
The squat Pyrat XO rum bottle shape is inspired by the typical design of rum bottles kept by pirates and ship captains in the 19th century.

Smells like vanilla, lemon, and fingernail polish remover. However, the taste is very layered. With the first sip I got an intense rush of vanilla, brown sugar, and hint of caramel. Then as it went down and rushed over the rest of my tasted buds I picked up hints of orange, lemon, alittle grapefruit, and a hint of almond maybe. This is my frist real rum so I was excited to taste it and be able to pick out the different notes and flavors of it.
Erinnert mehr an einen orangen LikΓΆr als an einen rum.
I had this rum about 10 years ago and still remember it. That was back when I still drank rum with cola and I remember liking it very much.
I very much enjoy the orange notes with a touch of vanilla and spice, sweet enough that adds a nice finish after a good meal. Liquid dessert.
Definitely taste some orange in Pyrat. I simply like this rum, on the rocks or in a cocktail but mostly on the rocks. A little sweet but not overly so.
Realy good taste. You should try it. Don't suit everyone but I like it.
Another keeper that can be a sipper or great mixed. Very detectable hints of vanilla but not overwhelming.
In my area this is an easy rum to access. Pyrat is usually available for a decent price so it makes its way into a rocks glass often because it's not too heavy to drink beyond special occasions. It has one of the better balanced flavors of the sipping rums but one caveat is that it should breathe for a while before drinking. I sometimes use a decanter (yes, really) but only for purposes of airing liquor. This one needs air. The bottle is also small - very pretty, but deceptively small.
I see Pyrat on the shelf at more and more bars so I tried it before I buyed it. I took it over ice with a Coke on the side s I usually do. The first couple of sips were pleasant, I could definitely taste the whisky barrels in it. I took a few more sips, then a sip of Coke. The original flavour experience never came back, it suddenly seemed pretty weak. I mixed the rest with Coke and it was alright but not blown away by its complexity or power. I like the bottle, it looks good on the bar, so it's got that going for it, just not the swashbuckling impact I would have expected from a Pyrat.
Silnejsi, me se pije lip, je tam citit rum. Neni tak sladky

A very definite hit of oranges.
"The orange taste is very much at the forefront and the burn leaves behind a bitter tang of orange peel."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label
