Pyrat XO Rum is produced from nine different Caribbean rums that are blended and then aged up to 15 years in used American sweet oak barrels.
The squat Pyrat XO rum bottle shape is inspired by the typical design of rum bottles kept by pirates and ship captains in the 19th century.

Nothing is special about this rum,
I did not enjoy as much as other top rated rums.
Zacap, Vaya, Zafra, Diplo all beat this rum.
I enjoy mine with Dr. Pepper and they work well together. I think it is a good rum with some good flavors but does not have as much taste as others in its price range.
The first time I tasted the taste I was shocked . Not unlike anything I 've tasted . It has a fruity woody scent .
Altjough quite nice, it is too flat in my opinion and could nee more time to get more falvours. Right now it is better to dring in a cocktail.
A bit pricey, but its smoothness makes up for it. However, whenever I go on vacation I make sure I include a bottle for sipping on the rocks with a cigar after i dip it in. Second best rum I've ever had and can't remember the first. Lol
This is not a smooth as I would like, although maybe I should qualify that statement is during sipping. If you sort of guzzle it is smooth. Although what a waste. It's harder than Zaya.
Strong tastes of orange and citrus. To a degree it almost tastes chemicaly... Don´t get me wrong, it is a good rum, but a little synthetic to the core of my tastebuds...
The color as well as the smell gives you the impression that you're up for a treat. Not to mention the beautiful bottle. Intense orange and citrus tones combined with the heavy oakey rum. At the first taste you get a slap in the face. The taste is very original, but for me it landed perfectly on the tounge from the start. A must try if you like exciting and different rums. 8/10!
The is a real taste for oranges overall. Beside this it is really sweet and with a hint of liquorice. I like it, but it belongs to the type of rums, which won't be liked by everyone. But this is not a Con, it just says that this one has a real character.
I recommend having a few drinks in you before you tackle this rum. Otherwise you'll find it rather bold and pirate like.
"Had wine not been the drink of choice 2,000 or so years ago, Jesus would have probably turned every drop of water on earth into Pyrat Rum XO Reserve"

"it’s like an orange Chuck Norris came through the joint, belted out a roundhouse kick to the face..."

A very definite hit of oranges.
"The orange taste is very much at the forefront and the burn leaves behind a bitter tang of orange peel."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

The dominance of orange is unmistakable. This is not rum. At best, itʻs a rum liqueur, which is fine if that's what you're looking for.
