Pyrat XO Rum is produced from nine different Caribbean rums that are blended and then aged up to 15 years in used American sweet oak barrels.
The squat Pyrat XO rum bottle shape is inspired by the typical design of rum bottles kept by pirates and ship captains in the 19th century.

Late burn. Not terrible but doesn't have a lot going for it. Better rums at this price point.
Good for a first sip, but hard to have more than one drink without feeling sick due to the tang.
Este es sin duda un ron especial y diferente.
Especial porque sus sabores son ΓΊnicos y diferente porque no es un ron convencional.
Adelante!!!!
This rum comes in a nice bottle, but the rum itself is average, nothing to stand out for me.
Smell is very sweet and resembles vanila and marzipan. The taste is sweet but not overwhelming, starts sweet, moves to strong fruity taste with oranges dominating it, last comes a little punch of alcohol with oranges and marzipan closing the show. It is okay, there are plenty of rums tasting similar but this one is not bad.
Orange liquor without vitamin C. The vitamin C marks are reflected on cork and bottle.
Feels like it's too much spiced for the XO rum.
Zero long aftertaste.
Somehow wasted money. Would score 5, but works Ok with coke +point.
"Had wine not been the drink of choice 2,000 or so years ago, Jesus would have probably turned every drop of water on earth into Pyrat Rum XO Reserve"

"itβs like an orange Chuck Norris came through the joint, belted out a roundhouse kick to the face..."

A very definite hit of oranges.
"The orange taste is very much at the forefront and the burn leaves behind a bitter tang of orange peel."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

This rum was recommended to me by a friend as something I might and enjoy, and he wasn't far off. While not exactly what I'm looking for, it's unique and well crafted enough to earn a place on my bar. The orange that takes center stage for so many isn't as pronounced for me. Nor do I find much vanilla. I think what many describe as vanilla, I would characterize more as honey. While sweet, this rum has a dry side. I would characterize this rum as being "bright" in taste if that makes any sense. I can see how for some people this is an ideal sipper, but not my ideal. But I would take this over a lot of other offerings. For me this is more of a mixer, especially with fruit juices. And the bottle gives a nice historic flair to any bar. Now that I've finished one, I've cleaned off the labels and using it to house some Gosling's 151.
