Pyrat XO Rum is produced from nine different Caribbean rums that are blended and then aged up to 15 years in used American sweet oak barrels.
The squat Pyrat XO rum bottle shape is inspired by the typical design of rum bottles kept by pirates and ship captains in the 19th century.

I'm not exactly an expert here, but after sipping this stuff, and reading the reviews here, i am quite surprised. I come over from a whisky (mostly bourbon) background, and I've got to say before you say this is "harsh" go try a good stiff sip of rye.
anyways, what I found in this drink was really neat. after smelling it, most of what I am getting is what I would describe as some kind of caramelized vanilla. after swishing it around a little, it comes through as more like the molasses it comes from. on my first sip, I thought it tasted almost like pure fruit juice, very sweet flavor. as it settled in my mouth, I started feeling more and more molasses in my mouth, like I just had a sip out of a jar of thin molasses... wow! through the whole experience, you do taste a subtle mix of oak in the drink, not too strong at all but it's a nice addition in the palate. overall, nothing close to harsh, but to me, it has two really strong flavors in the mix that you should be aware of.

Normally if you are looking for a great rum to pour over that big cube, you start looking in the $30 and up range. This Pyrat Rum I have seen for under $20 at some stores. Not that I am complaining :) I would put this Rum up against most Rums that are twice the price!

Bouteille extrêmement décevante pour moi, je ne pourrais en blind test même pas certifié boire un vieux rhum. En revanche le packaging est très travaillé mais je privilégie le contenu au contenant.....

How much time you got on your hands? You wait long enough, add 2 or 3 points to the rating here. Otherwise, mix it with coke and have your very own orange flavored coke.

Aroma with a touch of oranges. Love the bottle. Sweeter taste. One of my favourite rums in this price range.

Too sweet, too artificial. Tastes like banana candy. Not a rum IMO
