Multiple | Aged | 40% ABV | Pot and Column Still

Plantation XO 20th Anniversary rum is a combination of pot-stilled and column-stilled Barbadian rums that are initially aged in the Caribbean in ex-bourbon casks for 12-20 years. They are then transported to France for a second 12-18 months aging in small French oak casks.

The first bottle of Plantation XO 20th Anniversary was created for the head of Cognac Ferrand Estate Alexandre Gabriel to honor his 20th year running the company. This special gift has resulted in the bottling we see today.

Characterized by hints of vanilla on the nose and on the tongue. Good alcohol level, not too intrusive. At times reminiscent of the flavors of ice cream and zabaglione.
It should be drunk slowly to appreciate the evolutions in contact with oxygen

It's a good rum, but for me it is not a rum I would buy again. For the price there's better rums out there.

Tasted at Kill Devil Rum Club Plantation tasting at Laka Lono 5/28/20.
This was the first of four, what a lineup!
A delicious rum, so very smooth, just really really good.
This is likely a sweet rum - because I like it :)

In this price range I prefer Zacapa 23 over the Plantation XO Asiverssary. The Zacapa 23 Solera is a bit more creamy, which I prefer. And the zacapa has a better longer finish (chocolate notes). But this Plantation XO is a must-have for any rum enthusiast!

In general is soft and nice to drink, it won't bring any disruptive flavour, but it is sweet beyond balance.

Výborný základní rum, vyvážená chuť. Svěží. Ani silný ani slaby

I purchased it because of the good ratings here. The bottle is nice, the color also. In the smell you can feel vanilla. The taste is smooth and has some coconut flavor at the end. All these sound nice, but I missed the "wow this is a good stuff" feeling. It is a nice rum, but I was expecting more.

IF you check some of my other reviews in this price range, I like other ones better; however, this one is pretty good and worth a try. I found it to be "OK" as sippable (my basic standard). I was "misled" by the "20th anniversary" thing -- if I recall, it is NOT 20 years aged, so be wary of that hype.

Based on my tastes, I would buy others in this price range before getting this one again....

Affected by a visit to Martinique and guided by Edward Hamiltons “Rum Book” I was a fan of Rhum Agricole over years. In particular the white ones attracted me most - because they are genuine, pure and straightforward. Only recently I also tried several “molasses based rums” like Pusser’s, El Dorado, Chairman’s, Smith&Cross, Cane Island, Botucal etc..

Long introduction to explain that I don’t give easily 9/10 in my first review here… but the Plantation XO 20th Anniversary has really convinced me. No matter what the ingredients are in this rum (added sugar, colorants,…), I love it. No need to repeat the description of all the other fans like vanilla, coconut etc.. All is true from my point of view. And for a quite reasonable price!

I enjoyed this as a sipper with lime on the rocks.

I like it in a rom and Coke. One of my go to for that drink
