Multiple | Aged | 40% ABV | Pot and Column Still
Plantation XO 20th Anniversary rum is a combination of pot-stilled and column-stilled Barbadian rums that are initially aged in the Caribbean in ex-bourbon casks for 12-20 years. They are then transported to France for a second 12-18 months aging in small French oak casks.
The first bottle of Plantation XO 20th Anniversary was created for the head of Cognac Ferrand Estate Alexandre Gabriel to honor his 20th year running the company. This special gift has resulted in the bottling we see today.

Sweet and one dimensional, taste like a bad bourbon.
Bit too sharp for my but great on nose. Vanilla spiced.
Too sweet. Smell is partially "masked", probably due to sweetness. I don't think it's bad, but something about it feels a bit off. I read a long presentation text specifically on it and was expecting something great. The only thing great though, is its price. I tried this at a bar. Barman and serving girl started me on its supposedly fabulous backstory, but ended up getting wind from me on even more details, plus Plantation brand-name chaging and other stuff, instead. Good for them, i guess! Marketing tricks work on those who don't frequent rumratings, fatrumpirate's and captain jimbo's. Wouldn't try that again, nor go out of my way to obtain an entire bottle, change or no change, collector's pride and whatnot.

I'm often puzzled by complex descriptions of nose and initial palate etc. I like to keep it simple. It's the finish on your palate that dominates your obverse experience. The finish on this one is demerara sugar. It doesn't taste like rum. Even with coke, it still dominates. Super over rated. Wasted my money and would never buy again
It seems commercial impression of rum is sweet and smooth or spiced. That usually mean's added flavours and sugar.
It's drinkable and could be said it's good, but it's less rum.
I've got the old bottle, not this new shape one, but I bet it's likely the same.
To me there are two groups of rum fan's, one for sweets and another for pure rums. And those are not comparable in any ways.
This is a nice rum for beginners. it hit a good spot on sweetness and vanilla. Beautiful bottle and overall presentation too. Wish it had been allowed to stand on its own without so much sugar though,
edited to add sugar test results- 29g
A few years later, this is undrinkably sweet.
the ratings are imo to high. some exotic fruits and a sugar finish. think sugar is added.
Des arômes de coco, vanille, barbe à papa.
Très rond, sucré.
Laisse des arômes de sucre raffiné en fin de bouche.
Pas à mi. Goût

Ordered a sample of it, not tested yet but eager to share my experience
It tastes pretty much like a coconut liqueur.
"An overly sweet saccharin note which make the rum taste artificial. ."

Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

It can be enjoyed if the cabinet is otherwise empty, however it tastes a bit too much of alcohol for my taste
