Light in colour, sweet and smokey on the nose, but let is sit in the ice for a bit before you sip otherwise it might blow your head off. Very harsh taste to begin, but mellows nicely to a subtly weet fruity (banana) flavour with enough dry woody aftertaste to satisfy a whiskey drinker.

Really liked this one!
On the nose there is candied banana, orgeat, pears and English Breakfast tea. Black pepper, anise, raisins and caramel.

On the palate there is ripe banana, mint, English Breakfast tea, cocoa nibs and nail polish. Oak spices, passion fruit and sultanas. Finish is long with tropical fruits and spice.

Nose: The arrival is immediately full of chocolate-covered raisins, a mix of cough syrup and strawberry syrup, and bubble gum balls from those classic gumball machines. Fruit takes over, resplendent with melon, cherries, and pears, before being accompanied by touches of incense and mint chocolate M&Ms. Perfume and fresh basil guide the development near the end. The aromas give off an air of confidence, letting themselves be identified without hesitation.

Palate: The cough syrup is there but takes a step back and lifts notes of coriander, sesame oil, and anise mixed with caramel. Spice is slightly prominent, surrounding notes of steamed bananas, shaved coconut, vanilla, cinnamon, and malt. Finally, the complexity settles down with polyethylene plastic, lychee, and tea made from teabags. Medium-bodied.

Finish: Citrus oil, the inside of banana peels, and the aftertaste of eating Hershey's kisses. Long, with spice dancing on the tongue on the first half of the finish.

Great mix of bananas, caramel, wood, and fruit. Short nice finish, easy to sip. I'd say this might qualify as a perfect ‘entry-level’ Jamaican rum for those who are getting used to the unique taste of the island's rums.

absolutely loving this rum. A sipper's dream
ripe bananas with caramelized brown sugar
maybe a little jamaican funk with the banana to remind us of its origin.
long finish in the throat. no cola or ice please ;)
at around 45EUR Germany it's a fair price

Taste like toffee, delicious dried fruit, a little funky grassy notes, hints of ginger, and molasses. It is proofed at 45% ABV, but it’s very smooth and a great sipper. This is a unique Jamaican rum with a distinct taste that gets better with every sip. The notes of this rum are very similar to Hampden 8 year but this is some much more sophisticated. Great buy. I’ll definitely get it again.

One of the rare local liquor stores brought in a a few worthy park rums. This is a rock solid sipper that gives you all the pot still funkiness of an aged jamaican without the burn of an hogo bomb. Delicious

On the nose: shoe polish or a slight note of glue (after a few minutes it will be gone), lots of sweetness, pineapple, sugar cane, tobacco, especially yellow plum, baked banana with cinnamon, fermented tropical fruits, raisins.

On the palate: spicy, alcoholic hot, especially ginger, baked banana, nutmeg and pepper.

Finish: spicy with pepper, some cocoa chips, some alcoholic heat, some rubber and polish, ripe pineapple, dry.

With a little water: chocolate in the nose and on the palate. Great stuff!!

This has some serious “funk”. But unlike Hampden it is balanced. Oak, banana and vanilla right up front. Also the fine strong bite. But is all in balance. It hits the pallet so smoothly revealing the molasses and some tobacco notes. Great body. It goes down as easy as water. So smooth with a very long lingering finish. Fine rum. Money well spent. This is what a Jamaican rum can and should be.
