Negrita Bardinet White Signature

Nose: (Straight from the bottle after opening fresh bottle) Sugar Cane, diminished fumes of tropical fruit, hints of Lychees overrun by alcohol and burned coals, Alcoholic and Fresh.
Palate: Lychees overrun by smoke, sour sugar cane (good sign), Vanilla, Cachaca vibes coming and going, Alcoholic burn and hints of compressed cardboard, melamine? it is surprisingly burning for a 37.5% distillate.
Finish: Medium and Lingering due to that excessive alcohol burn. Celery.
i am not used to such kind of burn in most rums or other clear distillates such as Wodka, 37.5% abv vol should go down easier and without such burn, trying to figure the reason, as the process and overall palate presentation is decent and reflect a good quality distillate, my though it could be over distilled in the initial process, since the tropical fruity richness typical for good Rum Agricoles is strangled in this case. it is clearly an Agricole, and on the cheap side, still i would prefer to sip straight one of the popular Cachacas than this one, it is not bad, and despite the 37.5% abv delivers a significant bite for the money. however it misses much in complexity to the competition, the good point is that it's rather low caloric values means that there is no significant Sugar added, and it is something which will reflect in my rating.
Bardinet is respected producer of whom i had more than some Brandies in the past all were distilled and presented suiting it's price tier.
This is clearly distilled and blended in a way to be a mixer and not a sipper, that alcoholic bite would not be there if it was intentionally balanced as a sipper, it's market i guess is, the sub 20$ White mixer at 37.5% would compete with Captain Morgan and Bacardi which is "superior" in this case. however in cocktails that actual burn would be a good thing, Bardinet managed to sell a weaker rum and produce the same after taste in a cocktail or even in a cuba libre with less abv... nobody would mistake this being a vodka based cocktail. and in that aspect their balance is perfect. i guess if they wished to release a more pleasant sipping white rum and at this price level, they easily could do so, but it seems it's not their tradition or interest.

Drinkable/Sippable, But why?

Not worse than others in a cheap price category. The lid is frail. .,.,.,. Ненадёжная пробка. Аромат слабый ягодный со спиртовой резкостью. Вкус маслянистый. Подходит, чтобы напиться, но желания купить повторно - нет.

I find poking around whites to be more frank contact with the sugarcane distillates, even if they are not necessary designed (or speculated) for a sip. This one is not, but you won't get me off just because of that. It's rather strange beast - some whites are attempting to protect from the harshness, do offer what there can be subtle - mildness or tad of playfulness, this can be a chosen way of white development. However, here you have intended alco-hit, while formally at 37.5, meeting that mellow side of sipping sense. Cachaça playfulness escape was reported, can be grasped, but does not last. Overall, it is complicated enough, therefore is true rum game, say hello. Plug right into cocktail or follow sipping attempt - should work for the hailer of the sugarcane, because little is spoiled here. That's why.
Update: getting to the bottom of the bottle on the third day, I find the harshness having faded away, with the remains being so much nicer. One can just leave the bottle open for a while to ventilate excessive alco hit. At this point, it is rather nice and correct white.

Sad to say but this is the worst rum I have ever tried. It’s bad on his own. it’s bad in cocktails. It’s bad in Arranged rums and in punches. Maybe for cooking IDK

Alcohol, anise and mint. In the nose and aftertaste. Even in the mix definitely not a good choice for me.

Mostly Alcohol taste, not even good with Coke, work only fine to use as bas as in mojitos. At least is cheap and I only paid 9 euro for one bottle in Barcelona Spain

This is definitely not a rum. It is only an alcohol you can integrate in the crepe recipe

not more, a good mixer for drinks and cocktails. And of course deserts and cooking and warm drinks.
