This is a very cheap rum and it is far from great but the score on RumRatings (2,8 at the time of my review) doesn't do it justice. On the other hand; the label states 'Premium Caribbean dark Rum' but I wouldn't call this premium by a long shot. So, a cheap rum somewhere in between 'barely drinkable' and 'premium'.

I couldn't help checking some of the members who rated Negrita a '1' or '2' and , not unexpected, there was a lot of sweet stuff on the upper shelves. This dark rum is a dry blend. I do wonder what kind of blend because as a French rhum you would expect an agricole, and I get some hints of that, but I would be very surprised if molasses-based rums were not in here as well.

On the nose it reminds a bit of Myers's rum, just much, much lighter. A bit herbal, burnt sugar but I also get a whiff of molasses. On the palate it starts out rather sweet, liquorice, and then the herbal and peppery (chili rather than black or white) notes take over. Minimal vanilla and some oak come forward in the rather short finish. With an ABV of 37,5% it is certainly not an explosion of flavours but it does have some character. It is a little sharp at the exit despite the low ABV so I guess there is quit a large part of really young rum in this blend.

This is probably not going to be a rebuy; it is all a bit too simple and I can get more interesting spirits for just a tad more money. On the other hand, when I am spending my holidays in France (after covid) I might just grab another bottle; this is the right kind of stuff near a campfire at night. Simple but not bad.

Depends what you expect. If you understand this rum plays in lowest chesp league you wont have big dissapointment. What sum ups all is: cheap mixer rum. Dont even think "premium" when looking at the bottle. With cola tastes weird but okay. Probably with orange juice will be more interesting.

not a sipping rum but ok for a dark cuba libre, too low ABV ...

Looks quite nice due to the black colour, however, the alcohol ist quite Sharp, and the taste rather harsh while simultaneously being somehow bland and generic. Great for Baking, Not so great for Drinks (Cuba libre ist probably the only suitable use Here) and definitly unsuitable for sipping.

No podría distinguirlo de un vodka barato si no fuera por la etiqueta.

One of my worst drinking experiences, will not go down even greatly diluted.

Its good and mellow all by it self but some harsh flavours rise up when you put in an ice cube.

After reading some reviews, I was not expecting too much but in fact it was better than expected. Tried it with coke & ginger beer & was pleasant with both. Ok, its a price point rum, or maybe that should be Rhum, but when its on special, I'll buy it without any qualms.

Nose: vegetal, grassy agricol-ish.
Palate: harsh and sharp, but also slightly sweet. Strange, but warm and long lasting.
Probably blended, maybe even with non-agricoles.
I had worse.

5,5

Tastes absolutely terrible. You can't even use it as a mixer. The smell is abhorrent, like something you'd use as a stripper/cleaner. Stay far away.

Well I must say I don’t like dark rums.
Then this one tastes too fake.
Might be fine with coke or something idk
