Maybe a little bit sweeter than would be ideal for me and taste is a little bit thin but generally not bad

One of my favorites way back when… in the last 5 years or so it’s become disappointing.

I would begin by saying that this is not a bad rum. For people complaining that this has added sugar...please, switch to whisky, and stop complaining about it. I bet you haven't even bothered to read the nutritional values, which are published on the Matusalem website, and other websites. Or you haven't had the Zacapa 23 I assume? Please stop, this is not whisky. Getting back to this rum...well, it's main flaw in my opinion is that...it's not good enough to enjoy it as a sipper, and not "bad" enough to use it as a mixer. That would be a spoil. The problem is that it doesn't really stand out in any way. You forget about it the next day you tried it. Would I have this over the Zacapa 23? Of course, The Zacapa is almost twice the price. Should it be better priced, I think it would be a better sell, as it would take on almost anything up to 25 euros. But, for a few dollars more, I'd take a Reserva Exclusiva over this, any day.

Досить м'який, питкий ром.
В смаку багато ірису, шоколаду, та сухофруктів.
Вдалині, навіть підкопчена історія.
П'ється дуже легко.
Непоганий ром, але це більше шана історії.

Not the most expensive but very good sipper for the price. One of my favorites to drink neat.

Tasty rum, nice for sipping and carries well in cocktails. There's just something holding me back from loving this. There's a hint of fresh paint in the nose. And something else similarly chemical. Has a slightly peanuty taste which I usually enjoy when I find it in whiskey but here I didn't care for it. It's not bad at all, it's pretty nice for sipping. I don't feel bad using it in cocktails either. But it's kinda like when you order coke and they bring you Pepsi... It's pretty much what you wanted but.... Not exactly right.

This one screamed of additives since it smelled and tasted so sugary sweet. It might be okay for a mixed drink that calls for a spiced-typed rum, it’s too sweet for me to drink on its own.

Had to sleep on it to come up with a review. On the rocks this rum is a fine sipper for me. Sweetness is not too much. Aftertaste a bit weak and the rum just seems to be missing something but hard to say what. Tried neat and was not impressed too much alcohol taste but on the rocks it was toned down. As I mixer it might be quite good. It depends how you look at things. If you expect a nice rum for an okay price point then this is worth it. If you expect to have found the next hidden gem in rum then you might be disappointed. I would absolutely try their 18 or 23 if I can find it. Overall, not impressed but not really disappointed.
