Matusalem Gran Reserva 15-year rum is produced using a combination of rums aged on average 15 years and distilled from molasses using the solera process.
The Matusalem company was established in 1872 originally in Santiago de Cuba. The company fled the country following the Cuban Revolution in 1959 and the Gran Reserva rum is now produced in the Dominican Republic.

Not the most tasty, nor the least for a sipping rum. A bit of a unique flavour. Perfectly smooth to be sippable, but not nearly as full-bodied as you would expect a 15-year aged rum would be.

This is just an ordinary rum. Usual rum notes with not so great complexity.

Tasted 5/9/22 at Laka Lono (Memorial Day)
Delightful flavor includes cherries. This reminds me somehow of birthday cake??!!

Way better than the last Matusalem I've tried. Mild in taste and smell, but taking into consideration the 15 years ageing just to "usual"

Pretty okay ruk for the price, but I would prefer a Pampero Aniversary Edition for the same price.

Not bad at all. Appropriate for unwanted visits, with ice in hot day or into cocktail. Nice retro looking bottle.

Not so flavored as I was expecting for a Cuban rum. But you can feel te vanilla and a subtile aftertaste aftertaste chocolate and wood.
