Plantation Original Dark Double Aged Trinidad & Jamaica

Vanilla and a faint citrus note on the nose. Both transfer to the taste. Not much to of a burn going down. Absolutely love mixing drinks with this one.

Decently smooth with a good taste and just a bit of funk. The relatively affordable price makes it great for mixing.

Surprisingly strong orange like aroma spread immediately after opening the bottle. Taste is rum with bitter dry oak tone. It is miles away from Plantation XO, but still good anyway.
Tried a drop in my morning cup of tea just made my day.

The cherry cask is tasted in the middle, but too simple other spices

Sweet smell of cherry and cane, no alcohol in the smell, good taste and not a big price. I add it to cocktails and coffee. I can’t say how tasty it is in its pure form, because I’m more into cocktails, but I think that this rum is a must-have in your bar.

Отличный ром, употребляю регулярно в чистом виде и коктелях. Приятный сбалансированный вкус, дубок ванилька , чуток перца. В общем must have в баре!

Sweet, but I like it. I like every Plantation so far

A dark rum I use in cocktails - nose - some vanilla, banana, tropical fruits, hint of caramel or molasses - taste - light and sweet, bananas, a bit of the Jamaican funk - no heat - good sipper. Really good mixed with ginger beer and lime.

Aromas of caramel, vanilla, spice, barrel, and hints of hogo. Flavors of caramel, vanilla, cinnamon, bananas and a woody hint.

I tried this rum a few years ago and thought it was ok, but recently I have discovered where it’s strength lies! Tiki drinks!

As a sipper it has some nice character and I can drink it neat or on the rocks, but there are others I prefer based on taste and a desire for a little more complexity.
It has a nice mouthfeel and subtle molasses sweetness with low heat. As the bottle indicates I can detect the sweetness of the Trinidad with the funkiness of the Jamaica in the blend. I do not detect a lot of oak, maybe just enough to notice if you try to pick it out.

This is what hits my palate perfectly in Tiki cocktails. I recommend a Hawai’i style Mai Tai with this rum as the only one (more often it is a combination of a light with a float of dark rum). This rum already is a wonderful blend of two rums that hold their character in a mixed drink so you get the sweetness of the fruit juices, rum flavor and funk all in delicious balance.

When you throw in the price point of ~ $20-25, this makes it a great choice and why I rate it an 8 overall.

Consider this for a tasty drink (Fresca grapefruit soda 2, Pineapple juice 1, orange juice 1, Orgeat 0.5, and Plantation Original Dark 1.5) mix over ice, stir, enjoy!
