Det er ikke min favoritrom. Lidt kedelig i smagen.

Had this as flagship dark? Not completely sure I'm rating the right thing here. Dark mahogany pour. Vanilla and maple. Some florals. Pretty smooth stuff.

These Pilar rums have been my favorites for sippers. They are all sweet, but that's what I prefer. The Maple, Butterscotch, Vanilla, and Carmel flavors rein on most of these rums from Papa, and in Hemingway fashion I think he had a Sweetooth like I do.

Tasted as part of a Pilar trilogy mini flight August 14, 2022 at Laka Lono
Tasting notes read: I don't like this. It tastes flammable.

Plenty of complexity here from start to finish. Brandy-like with a sweet finish.

Received as a gift from a great friend. Wow... I think I'm going to have to fly down for more.

This one is probably good for someone just starting to get interested in rum. It´s very very sweet but more complex than the Diplomat. I got mine after new year´s when a local shop sold it for cheap. I don´t know if I need both bottles, now that I've tasted it... I´m going to enjoy it every once in a while, but it´s almost too much. Not suitable for mixing imo, the chocolate and the maple would override the pallet. The added sugar subtracts some points for me, so I ended at 6

Pilar is a name synonymous with sportfishing and this rum would have been enjoyed by Papa himself. Well worth the price.
