A great deal of vanilla and sugar. A short aftertaste with that bourbon touch.
Not bad at all.

Iโ€™m glad to see that Papa Pilar brand is experimenting with extra aging like Ron Abuelo, Plantation, Foursquare and others. I think they are starting with the original dark Solara pancake syrup and the additional aging help. Still not a huge fan but great improvement.

Loads of vanilla, brown sugar, and with a slight coconut finish.
Great rum !

Less sweet that the other dark rum offerings from Papa's Pilar, which suited my tastes a bit better. Nice layers of flavor and a good long finish.

I'm not a huge fan of bourbon aged rums. I've tried a few a few good ones, where the aging is light, but generally I prefer other types of aging for rums, such as sherry or port barrel aging.

This smells and tastes of maple, bourbon, and vanilla. Definitely not bad, but I prefer their sherry aged rums a little better. However, I do prefer this to their blonde rum.

I probably should rate it a 10, but then if I ever do find something better I would not know how to rate it. This has a little more depth and character than regular Pilar dark, but no so much that you taste the bourbon barrels like you would in an oak aged bourbon. Very smooth with Pilarโ€™s recognizable carmel finish.

Bourbon fans rejoice. I have to admit, I was skeptical about the bourbon cask. I'm a variety drinker, but my favorite whiskey is Irish. This rum is very good. The t taste is very good. Smooth, smoky, and complex. The nose is fantastic. Bourbon does add a lot of time. It's not in the background. This rum is full of bourbon flavors. not sweet. Not too strong. A smooth, sipping. memorable. Nice smoky flavor.

Similar with sherry finish just bit more body and touch less sweet-fruit-brandy... I would compared it somewhat with a regular Zacapa 23 more fruity version. In this price range is a good choice.

The regular version of this rum is stellar, but to finish it in bourbon barrels?......outstanding. This is great with cigars, mid day sipping, and as a dessert rum.

I was a bit afraid of Bourbon aging. But it is a smooth rum with decent amount of sweetness. Smell- vanilla, but flabby in general. Short aftertaste.
But I like this rum and look for another bottle for my collection.
