This 12 years old taste allmost same than 7 years old. 5 years more make no difference. Good taste but thin and short.

I've come to appreciate flor de cana much more than in the past, they have single vintage bottling, so no blends, it provides a very smooth and clean taste. The 12 year old is very good, and the 18 year old even better. I've got the 25 year old on my wish list, I'll see how it compares to the other 25 year old I've tried.

The nose is a bit too closed for my liking. I like a good dose of fruit and oak, especially from a 12y along with a bit more weight, especially from its time in American oak. Having said that, I have just opened the bottle, so maybe it might open up a bit.

The body does display more oak and complexity and there is a good dollop of alcohol. It's not the smoothest but I like it. I like a rum that has a bit of umphh to it. It gives length to the rum and leaves a nice mouth feel. I suspect that if it had richer fruit, more depth and a touch more complexity, it could be a stunning rum if/when married to the alcohol.

It's definitely smooth but lacks in the flavor department especially when compared to something like Doorly's 12 yr which is also a natural rum. It's grassy tasting and there is a tiny bit of Barbancourt 8 yr Agricole-like flavor in there. There are some very mild caramel and smokey flavors there however the smokey may just be from charcoal filtering. Again it's smooth and if that's what ur looking for I recommend it, however it's just kind of blah tasting and not that special for a 12 yr rum IMO.

This is quite different then other 12yrs I've tried. the flavours are subtle, not overpowering, not sweet either. Not as this and rich as others but very enjoyable and smooth.

A good rum. Good to have but will not crave for it.
For cocktails, there are better options.

I enjoyed this rum on the rocks first and then with an added squeeze of lime. Was smooth and sweet and had just enough bite for me. I would buy again

This is not high end rum,but it's a very nice sipping rum.
Decent rum for it's price
Smooth and balanced, but nothing stand out and therfore it's not very special either.
I enjoyed but but not so much that i'm getting a second bottle.
But tasting this one makes me look forward to buying the 18 year old.

Plus doux que le 7 ans mais encore un rhum sec avec une finale très boisé il est très abordable pour un rhum vieilli 12 ans comparativement à d'autre millésimes
