El Dorado Special Reserve 15-Year rum

El Dorado Special Reserve 15-Year

TJ
had this rum recently

Guyana | Aged | 43% ABV

El Dorado Special Reserve 15-Year rum is crafted from 15 to 25 year old rums that are then blended and married together in bourbon oak casks. Prior to blending the original batches are distilled using 4 unique stills - the Enmore and Diamond Coffey stills, the Port Mourant double wooden pot still, and the Versailles single wooden pot still.

The bottle of El Dorado Special Reserve 15-year was inspired by the the old hand-blown flasks used by sugar planters on the banks of the Demerara river.

I had been drinking plenty of rum in cocktails, for many years, and I even went to Cuba, and drank plenty of rum there, including the seleccion de maestros from Havana Club. Sure I liked rum, but It was not until I tasted this, the El Dorado 15, that I really got hooked. Great rum for beginners, great depth, juicy sweetness! I recommend this to anyone.

it's my best rum so far. The smell catches you. You drink it down smooth with a long finish that settles a warmth that last

made even better by the fact that I picked it up for a song at a supermarket who obviously mispriced it. The only thing I would prefer is that it be bottled at 40% rather than 43%.

Sugar: 38 gpl. I purchased this rum with great expectations but I was disappointed in the bitter taste and overall burn. Too much oak for me. Sweetness was good. Some different flavors that I could not quite figure out. There are far better sipping rums on the market. If you are going to purchase an El Dorado, step up to the 21 year old bottle. Or save the money and purchase the 12 year old. It's a better value than either of the 15 or the 21 year old.

I got a bottle out of a recommendation. It is not bad, but I could have spent my money better. The flavor is bland and it is underproofed. I do not think I can relate its flavor to what I normally do with other rums. It is not disapointing, but given the options that there are, I would choose something else.

Nice and well tasting, in my opinion very well balanced in flavour, medium sweetness and good tast from the oak.

One of my all time favourites. This is probably my all around favourite rum, for value. It's not the cheapest, but not the most expensive. It's a beautiful rum, that's priced cheaper than the Zacapa or Zaya, or some of the others, but much better than the other cheaper priced rums.

Great flavor with a slight bitter taste but smooth finish.

I keep the 21, 15, and 12 year in my cabinet readily available at all times!

I enjoy the 15 neat but when I am enjoying the 21, I'll have it with a splash of coke.

The nose is Very aromatic and balanced on the agrum fruit ( mandarine, orange). In the mounth, this rum is sweet & candied fruits with a little bit of smoked aroma's.
the afterburn is long on the coffee.
Great Rhum
