El Dorado Special Reserve 15-Year rum is crafted from 15 to 25 year old rums that are then blended and married together in bourbon oak casks. Prior to blending the original batches are distilled using 4 unique stills - the Enmore and Diamond Coffey stills, the Port Mourant double wooden pot still, and the Versailles single wooden pot still.
The bottle of El Dorado Special Reserve 15-year was inspired by the the old hand-blown flasks used by sugar planters on the banks of the Demerara river.

Ok.. I’ve had only a few different runs under my belt but this was the first one with a wow moment. Raisins, plums and dark chocolate make this one to savor. I can’t imagine something with more bang for the buck than this.
Great rum, this is one of my go-to flasks. It’s easy to drink with great aromas
This rum is way beyond the flavor profile of Bacardi, Kracken, or Sailor Jerry, although I have SJ and Kracken on my shelf. Nice tropical flavor, good balance, and not too ‘hot’. It is sweet, but not overly so. 8.5 is my score.
This is a very nice sipping rum. I especially like the flavor and hint of smoke from the barrel. A definite to share and this is the rum I gift to friends for milestones. Very good rum and affordable.
This one is balanced. Just the right amount of sweetness and smooth as all hell. Great rum.
Rum #6 of 7 at Laka Lono rum club tasting 6/30/21
I feel some distress that I enjoyed the 12 year more than the 15 year, but perhaps with rums the extra three years of aging does not add flavors I enjoy.
Aroma: salted caramel?
Flavor: some stress that while delicious, the 12 year is my favorite.
ohhhh yeaaaaa! It's a bit heavy, and a single ice cube really frees this up and makes for a great evening of sipping!
El Dorado 15 years is one of my favourite great fruit aromas,in the first it’s sweet, fruity, little spicy,( flavours sugar, caramel, tropical fruit, and some spices)have one good balance, and very Smooth in the mouth, value for money 10/10
Very pleasant taste, not too sweet. Lacks a bit of depth but if you want more older El Dorado has older and more complex rums. The 15 yo should be considered as a second step for those who consider Don Papa, Zacapa 23 or Diplomatico SR as good sipping rums.
Full nose packed with dark coffee, candied orange, almonds, dark chocolate...
"El Dorado Special Reserve 15-Year rum review by Mike at Ultimate Rum Guide"
Has more oak and chocolate notes.
"It is initially very sweet, apples, bananas and rum soaked raisins but there are also some bittersweet plum like notes. The finish is spicy and fruity and long lasting."

This rum is slightly different from the 12 Year old, but it does not add much other than some more imparted oak. For the difference in price ~$20 more for the 15 year old, it is not worth it. The 21 Year old is a lot pricier, but a great rum.
