Guyana | Aged | 40% ABV | Pot and Column Still

El Dorado 12-Year Rum is composed of a blend of aged rums, all at least 12 years old. The rums are distilled using a combination of stills including coffey stills and a double wooden pot still before being aged in bourbon oak casks.

Demerara Distillers of Guyana produces El Dorado 12-year rum and is the country's last remaining distillery, with origins tracing back to 1670. The name ""El Dorado"" references the legendary city of gold that is said to be in the country's Rupununi region.

I used to think this rum is fairly decent but now it seems to me like the absurd amount of sugar added to it ruins it. I don't enjoy it any more neat because it is way too sweet. For cocktails it is still reasonably useful when you adjust the sugar level of the recipe down considerably.

One of my first rum, nothing special about it. I dont quite remember anything about the taste after almost a year, so it speaks for itself.

I prefer the 1t for smoothness but this is still really nice. With the fruit the 15 has just starting to come out. Not as much toasted molassas and a bit more of a bite

Nice copper color. Aroma is vanilla and kind of alcohol-y but not unforgivably so. Sweet spice / cinnamon at first sip, with brown sugar turning to nuts, caramel, and the faintest hint of burnt wood on the fade. Deliciously complex. One of my favorites straight, and will make a rum-n-coke that will make your eyes roll back in your head.

Love this rum, I am new to the rum segment, and can drink this with or without ice, depends how I'm feeling. Will always have this on my shelf. So happy, I am willing to try the entire El Dorado line up, I'm sure I won't be disappointed.

I have to say the first couple of glasses of this reminded me of the wedding rums I was use to so a lot like Lambs navy but after letting the rum breathe in the glass a few minutes before mixing brought out the best in this rum .....let it breath !!' And enjoy this one

Very nice and smooth rum. Not too sweet and not to strong. Bottle is more mainstream.

Not as good as the 15 year but that is setting an unfair standard. Still this stands well as a very enjoyable sipper. An added bonus is the price point.
