This rum smells like salt and sea. Flavour is sweet but strong and fast goes to bitterness. Finish is long, warmy and spicy. Very interesting taste!
This rum ain't bad but surely it's got added sugar for a rum that's 54.5 abv it's quite sweet mostly buttery brown sugar tones caramel etc with no real alcohol punch or burn was quite disappointed tbh for an op rum it doesn't have a presence
Not a nice smell. Tastes bad. Burns. Not a lot of good to say about this
Taste and smell like chocolate. Strong burn but I am getting a bit bitter aftertaste which I am not a fan of.
Caramel, honey, vanilla with cinnamon, strong but tasty, smell plums there,
nice powerful Christmas rum 😊
Note: I'm a sipper. My opinion is based on sipping characteristics
Not a fan of overproof booze. Bought this just because I caught it at -60% on Black Friday. And to be honest, I really can't justify the mildly absurd retail price, after having it for two evenings. Hell, can hardly justify discounted price too. There is taste, there are aromas, but they are overclouded by the burn. And a dash of water doesn't help reduce that, or unlock anything more, for that matter. There is nothing spectacular about it and there are way better alternatives at reduced price range, let alone retail. You can probably use it for grog or some other abomination, but it just ain't particularly good for sipping. Reducing one additional point because the cork disintegrated on the fourth opening, leaving me with no option but use corkscrew. Something I truly did not expect.
It is fruity, hints of smokiness.
"It’s not sickly and overly spiced like some navy rums. There is a real complexity about this rum with a lot of flavour. ."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Nose: a lot of caramel and maybe some vanilla. Also might contain some demerara. Evolves into a pretty intense alcohol smell.
Taste: burn starts of nice but intensifies quite a bit and lingers a lot. Actually rather smooth for this amount of alcohol. Demerara notes. Pretty sweet but in a good way. Also a lot of spices which I can't really identify. A bit smokey and oakey. Not very complex.
Finish: ends rather dry but keeps going for a bit. Burn intensifies.
Final: would definitely recommend to people who are used to, or like, rums that pack a punch. This will do great in any cocktail where you're searching for a liquor that can compete with other strong-tasting ingredients. Can, absolutely, be enjoyed neat but I recommend adding (at least) 3 drops of water, which is the way I like it, to just get the rough edges of.
Notes: added 3 drops of water. Also I'm an inexpercienced taster so the details might be inaccurate, but it's still really enjoyable for my under-developped palate.
