Arrgh! By the devilโs twisted tail, this be a most intriguinโ and delightful rum! On the nose she be slightly sweet and spicy smellin', but like your typical rum with her oak and caramel and all. As she sits, you start noticin' everythin' else she has to offer! There be raisins for sure, and a hint of vanilla... and nutmeg - of all things - and lurkin' around every corner, there be that pot still funk just waitin' for you to make eye contact. On the tongue, a number of flavors hit hard and fast like an elite boardin' party. For some reason, the raisins push their way thru first followed by a burnt caramel flavor and that twingy taste you only get in wines. Then, like a break in the clouds, there be an expected sweetness. This rum did not smell sweet, but there she be anyway. Sadly, the sweet lasts for only a moment before sinkin' into bitterness and burn goin' down the hatch. The burn not be too harsh tho. Certainly, nothin' a true pirate couldn't handle! Now, there be lubbers who whine about how strong this rum be or how sweet she not be, but they be lubbers. Sad biscuit-eatin' lubbers... Might this be a good sippin' rum? Aye! Just keep it under wraps lest the crew find it! This be rum fittin' for a captain, not THOSE swabs! Arrgh!!!
Clean. Winna winna chicken dinna
A get a mild sweetness, within limits. Itโs a complex flavor, raisin, berry, not much linger.
Fairly strong whisky notes.
Itโs hot.
Iโm a little puzzled with their gun powder strength.. isnโt that 57% ..? Not 54.5 which was the navy strength after it was lowered in the mid 1800s. Is my understanding.
This bottle just says Guyana at the bottom. Bought it in Los Angeles.
Harmonic on nose, but powerful on alcohol and taste (despite 54,5% alcohol balanced) with sweet finish.
Worth tasting! Interesting. It is Guayana.

Served as a Soto Dax, aka in Daiquiri form by Josh Soto, which of course made for a taste sensation. My notes indicate YUM!!! with a note that I felt I could taste demerara syrup, whether real or imagined.
Edit: tasted 5/8/22 at Laka Lono
notes from this visit: 5/5 barrels (I will keep my 9/10 rating)
aroma: 1/2 way down the basement steps
flavor: delicious funkiness
THE CLASSIC
This rum smells like salt and sea. Flavour is sweet but strong and fast goes to bitterness. Finish is long, warmy and spicy. Very interesting taste!
This rum ain't bad but surely it's got added sugar for a rum that's 54.5 abv it's quite sweet mostly buttery brown sugar tones caramel etc with no real alcohol punch or burn was quite disappointed tbh for an op rum it doesn't have a presence
Not a nice smell. Tastes bad. Burns. Not a lot of good to say about this
Taste and smell like chocolate. Strong burn but I am getting a bit bitter aftertaste which I am not a fan of.
It is fruity, hints of smokiness.
"Itโs not sickly and overly spiced like some navy rums. There is a real complexity about this rum with a lot of flavour. ."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Good for a strong rum taste in a cocktail or punch. Comfortable heat. Good body. Similar to real British Royal Navy rum, but really, it could never hold a candle to it.
