I was expecting a little more from a signature blend, and like I said the aftertaste is kind of good but you need to pass over the alcohol bite when you try it. It’s the kind of rum that you need to drink mixed with cola or something else because You need to mask the alcohol taste from the beginning. Don’t get me wrong I’m used to drink 60° beverages but I still don’t like the first impression of this one.
I’m surprised by the reviews of this rum. I thoroughly enjoyed the signature blend. It’s got that funky rum flavor you get in Jamaican rum without being too funky.
First off, I love this company and Joy Spence. With this particular rum, it’s great with rum and coke and as a mixer. However, I generally rate my rums based on how I drink them 90% of the time: neat or on the rocks. This being said, it’s an alright and unfortunately forgettable tasting rum. If you sip your rum like me, definitely skip this rum and go for the 12 year.
Found this blended rum to be smooth and appealing and although good on the rocks, equally nice with ginger beer or coke. If not wanted with coke try with coconut water.... nice.
Nose has some funk backed by an oaky smoke. It tastes of caramel and vanilla, but a bit harsh for a sipping rum.
To me this has a little bit of an astringent taste up front, and not my favorite aftertaste either. It seems pretty middle of the road, and especially for the price, easily mixes with whatever you want to make.
I thought all rums are meant to be sipped. Rather rough in smell and taste. Scratchy and far from memorable when drunk neat. Good for mixing in the end, but that is not why I bought it in the first place. A beginner's mistake.
This rum is just ok, nothing that would call me back for more. Ended up rum and coking most of the bottle.
The best rum I have found for the price. I enjoy this on the rocks while other runs of similar price are too harsh and lack real flavor. Great value. This is my go-to that I can drink every evening.
Refreshing and Crisp. Tastes it’s best when chilled and not left to sit.
Well balanced and it is a quite subtle (by Jamaican standards) rum.
"The initial sip is quite smooth but the palate soon heats up and feels the black pepper again, this time with some chilli and ginger spice."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

At first the scent comes off as if it were going to be harsh like a cleaner fluid, but then you take a sip and you figure out it’s just the strong spices coming out, with a medium caramel. The rum goes down smooth, not what I was expecting. For 20 dollars, it’s definitely better than captain org. But i still prefer Bacardi spiced.
