Dos Maderas PX 5 + 5 rum is made from a combination of rums from Barbados and Guyana. It is unique becuase of its triple ageding process where for 5 initial years the rum is aged in the Carribean in oak casks. Next PX 5 + 5 is aged in Spain for 5 years in sherry casks, and lastly for 2 more years in even older sherry casks.
The Dos Maderas family of rums are produced by Bodegas Williams & Humbert, which is a well known Spanish winery founded by Sir Alexander Williams in the late 1800s. The region of Spain where the winery is located has a climate perfectly suited for wine and is known as Europe's wine cellar.

This is a very smooth and tasty rum. One of those you are proud to share with friends.
Even this is not my first "weapon of choice" it is very interesting flavor. I would go with spicy, strong oak barrel. I think people, who do like less sweet, would appreciate the most. I have still untouched spare bottle in my storage for some special occasion or non sweet mood.
Loved it. Smooth, flavor. Good value rum. Buy again.

Great find for this price
I normally don’t like dosed rums but this one is pretty subtle in that department. Tasting brings some apricots and walnuts that quickly become swallowed up by tobacco, toffee, raisin, figs, molasses and caramel but it all works extremely well together. There is dosage (added sugar) and it does longer on the pallate a while after drinking but it isn’t anything overbearing or overly sweet. All in all this is a solid rum, especially for after dinner sipping.
A little on the sweeter side however tasteful. It is stable taste. After like 3 bottles I tried it seems it keeps the same quality.
You can taste the sherry from the barrel where it aged.
Rich, plump raisins dominate the palate.
"Quite drying on the palate so the mid palate. A slight oakiness and a little touch of the oak barrel."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Even after 20 minutes in the glass, it still burns going down, i have tasted other rums that have afteraged i portcask, but this one has a very funky taste, i dont like it at all.
