As I like sweet rums, this one's in my style. It's smoother than Doorly's 5 years and a bit sweeter too. But.....there are better ones in this price range.

-----------------------------------------------

Industrial rum made by assembling different rum aged 6 to 10 years in bourbon barrels and then finished in oloroso sherry barrels.
It is a good distillate with good value for money, superior to many more "famous" even more expensive rums.

On the nose: moderately complex with notes of vanilla, peach jam, cinnamon, tobacco.

To the taste: it is soft but balanced by a just bitter component; the sweet notes on the nose and those of the sherry return. Light caramel and a hint of bitter cocoa and licorice; the finish is medium and the mouth remains clean, indicating a well-executed distillate.

Rum with an average complexity able to satisfy both the novices and the slightly more demanding drinkers!

Advice for everyone: when you smell a rum (or any distillate), before inserting the nose and inhaling, make a slight puff in the glass and immediately afterwards try to smell the perfumes. This operation serves to arouse a bit 'the power of alcohol that otherwise would lead you to burn in the nose and to anesthetize your sense of smell.

Try to drink it first alone, then after eating dark chocolate (70 to 85% max), and finally after eating a half slice of fresh orange (including peel is important) with some brown sugar on top. ;-)

I prefer less sweet rums, so I consider this one as the good choice if you want more earthy taste.

My first impression of this rum was very good, especially considering its price (€25). In fact it was so good to me that I didn't trust myself. I decided to do a side by side tasting with a Plantation Barbados 2001, which I really enjoy.

The rum has a nice dark amber colour, apparently from the second ageing in sherry casks. Popping the cork... wait... no cork but a screw cap, fine as long as the rum is good. I do like the bottle design though. In the glass it has a pleasant sweet nose, the Plantation has a more fruity aroma.

Tasting each alternately with some dry crackers and water in between sips I was very pleasantly surprised with how they compared. The Doorly's is a more pure rum, not too sweet and quite complex. The Plantation is more fruity and sweet. Both rums are very smooth and they have a nice warm and long finish.

I have to say the bottle is emptying rather quickly, but at this price that's not a big issue. This one has definitely made me very curious about the other Doorly's rums!

A good quality rum for mixing, especially for the price. Soft flavors.

The nose is like a dessert, some vanilla and chocolate.
Then you get similar aromas at the testing, just less strong.

Picked this up at the RL Seale factory in Barbados...very good rum in the line of Bajan rums. Not necessarily my go to sipping rum but good on almost any occasion. Hints of honey and vanilla on the palate but definitely not too sweet

Foursquare distillery has done it again! Another good quality rum for the money. Can be used as a mixer or enjoyed neat. Definitely taste the sherry notes from the Olorosco sherry casks with hints of vanilla and oak.
For the price tag of roughly $20 at Total Wine and Spirits here in Florida, it is a surprisingly good value for a entry level sipper.

The colour of this rum is a "dark amber", with some reddish/brownish tones. The initial smell from the bottle was of strong alcohol, however this mellowed after spending some time in the glass. The first sip straight was way too harsh for my liking, however it had a surprisingly nice sweet aftertaste. After it breathed for a while in the glass it was actually quite pleasant to sip - Light with a tasty hint of sherry, with a little burn.

This rum makes an excellent mixer. Mixing it with coke/pepsi on ice made for an excellent drink! I would rate this a 7.5 if I could... A notch above their 5 yr old, for very little additional cost.
