Angostura 1919 8-Year

I received this as a Christmas gift in 2016 and it immediately became a top pick for me, comparable to my favourite choice Diplomatico R. E. due to its smooth caramel sweetness; however when a friend picked up a bottle based on my recommendation, we were very disappointed by the unbalanced & sharply contrasting nose and tastes of orange oils, alcohol, and sugar - almost as though a green blend somehow made its way into a bottling run. That particular bottle would have received a 4 or 5...
I was present for the opening, and have revisited it on a few other occasions just to verify it wasn't something off with the initial sampling but it's simply a bad bottle.
Other purchases of the 1919 have been good, but I'm leery now when picking one up...curious if anyone else has hit a bad batch...

Great rum for price, spicing a bit too heavy for me but not to say it's not a good rum I just prefer others

When you're only familiar without the cheaper rums that are used for the mix, this one makes quite an impression.

Angostura 1919 is een aparte rum, zeer smaakvol dient gezegd. Hij is fris en kruidig van smaak. Uiteraard heeft hij een fijne zoete smaak zoals rum betaamt. De rum zit in een mooi fles die vrij zwaar aanvoelt. Hij misstaat zeker niet op ieders dranktafel.

Tää ei mene ihan terävimpään kärkeen, mutta hintalaatusuhteessa suorastaan erinomaista!

Moins liquoreux que le diplomatico, on retrouve les arômes marqués de vanille qui font en rhum facile à boire.

Great in a small glas with som ice. Smooth and easy to drink.

It had a good flavor but nothing outstanding about it to move it higher in the ratings for me; especially for the price.

Verry good rum. Great tastes of vanilla and cocoa. When you open the bottle the smell alone is fantastic.
