Trinidad and Tobago | Aged | 40% ABV
Angostura 1919 rum is produced in Trinidad by blending a combination of light and heavy molasses distilled rums. These rums spend at least 8 years aging in American oak bourbon barrels.
The name Angostura "1919" refers to the event in 1932 when Angostura's distillery was destroyed by fire. Miraculously, a handful of barrels filled with rum from 1919 survived and were purchased by J.B. Fernandes - the master blender of Fernandes Distillers.

I bought it on sale but I expected more. Maybe I more into dark and spiced rums than gold rums.
Very light and clean, some sweetness, a fair bit of heat but nothing harsh.
Used a bottle in one night making drinks for a group of friends. Worked great in the drinks. Did sample. Fine rum but fairly unremarkable.
It's the perfect rum to have in the cabinet as a mixer rum. Vanilla flavors. Can't go wrong
Tento rum mě vůbec ničím neoslovil. Nezakládám si úplně na barvě, která se často upravuje, ale světlý, ostrý rum, kde jsem nezaznamenal nic, co bych si zapamatoval. V koktejlech jsem nezkoušel.
A 0,7 bottle looks like 1,0. Strong taste of alcohol.
The nose is beautiful and lures you in....sweet, tropical fruit, butterscotch, toffee. The color is a wonderful amber. The initial taste is mellow and smooth and still very sweet. There is only the slightest of burn. I could drink this one straight all day long.
The older and more expensive Angosturas tend to have an easily distinguishable shery and/or fruit flavor and quite rounded taste but not this bottle. There is nothing at all to like - or to hate, if comes to that. Could be sweeter. Almost no aroma, generic boring lowtier rum (for lower medium tier money). Average taste that is relatively short-lasting and w/o anything deep or really explorable. Mostly you'll just feel alcohol. Possibly good to shakes. Waste of resources.
I got almost nothing on the nose, maybe some alcohol and fruits. On the palate it gives some nasty burn and vodka-like taste and it last quite long time. Alcohol covers the little tastes it has of coconut, oak and honey maybe? Not my sipping rum at all and maybe too expensive for mixing?

There is a little “oak and smoke” and a very small scent of fruit.
"The rum is very smooth with notes of oak, cocoa and vanilla. Perhaps a little banana but very subtle."

This is a versatile rum that works well as a sipper or mixer. Personally, I like dry rums that are not too sweet and this meets that criteria from the Angostura offering (it’s older brothers are too sweet and the No. 1 Sherry Cask is too expensive for the quality). I’d have this over the rest any day.
