Angostura 1919 8-Year rum

Angostura 1919 8-Year

Trinidad and Tobago | Aged | 40% ABV

Angostura 1919 rum is produced in Trinidad by blending a combination of light and heavy molasses distilled rums. These rums spend at least 8 years aging in American oak bourbon barrels.

The name Angostura "1919" refers to the event in 1932 when Angostura's distillery was destroyed by fire. Miraculously, a handful of barrels filled with rum from 1919 survived and were purchased by J.B. Fernandes - the master blender of Fernandes Distillers.

This is a versatile rum that works well as a sipper or mixer. Personally, I like dry rums that are not too sweet and this meets that criteria from the Angostura offering (itโ€™s older brothers are too sweet and the No. 1 Sherry Cask is too expensive for the quality). Iโ€™d have this over the rest any day.

Good rum
Not expensive but not more expressive

I prefer the El Dorado rums to this as they are sweeter and darker. Angostura is still a quality rum with decent flavour but I prefer it mixed rather than on ice.

The Angostura 1919 is a very light but tasty gold rum like no other! Near to it's big brother the 1824, it brings out its sweetness and vanilla aroma.

One of the first rums I tried. It has very little, if any, burn as it touches your palate. Has notes of vanilla, sugar, molasses, and some caramel. Very smooth and easy to drink. Very good price point as well.

Great introduction to the rum category. Huge vanilla and coconut aroma on the nose. A great upsell for those who think rum needs to be spiced.
