Duft: vanilje, karamel, tørret frugt dejlig sød duft med en smule fad ingen sprit.
Smag: en smule sprit. Tør og sød på samme tid. Der er en del fad. slutter med en bitter chokoladesmag
Beautiful and balanced. A good rum with a sweet aftertaste thanks to the port cask.. enjoy it

This is a rum for my taste
Nose: wood, oil, apples and grapes
Pallet: burned sugar, wood, raisins, licorice and a fantastic balanced taste of port with a medium to long burn.
JD-test: 0-5 g/l sugar and 39,6 %ABV

I guess this rum is something you like or not at all. I feel the taste is too much cask.
Alkohol: 40 %
Původ: Barbados
Aroma: Velmi příjemná vůně. Jde o výtečný mix propolisu, medu, včelích pláství, kokosu, máty, ale i těžce květinových a ovocných vůní (sušené borůvky), ke kterým se přidává i cedrové dřevo. (89 b)
Chuť: Vůně mě připravila na něco sladšího, takže při první ochutnávce jsem byl překvapen suchou chutí. Klasicky rumový projev s kůží, kakaovou suchostí, větrovou dřevitostí a opáleným dřevem v dozvuku. (85 b)
Body: 87/100
Shrnutí: Vliv portského bych nehádal a ani nepoznal. Baví mě víc svou vůní, v chuti neurazí. Pro ty, co hledají suchý rum, je to ideální volba. I když jsem spíš na sladší rumy, nákupu lahve nelituju.

The port finish has a solid presence in the tasting. First stage of taste i found a bit "bitter grape-ey" followed by quite a strong middle flavor and a long very interesting lingering taste. I dont feel the port makes it overly sweet at all, especially since i donot like sweet rums. Very good sipper at 32 euros!

Good work from Barbados. The foursquare port cask finish nine years rum outsourced to its distillation for three years in American bourbon barrels. The distillate is then stored again for another six years in ex-Port Cask barrels.
Real fruity taste!
This rum got no additives, no sugar..

Port and rum, bad combination. A bit of port complexity washed away by alchool
Notes of Peaches, Vanilla, even some Red Apple the rum also has a hint of red wine/port which runs through it.
"When sipped, the rum has quite a lot of oak. It’s very clean and smooth."

Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Number two of the Foursquare's Exceptional Cask Series (ECS). Nine year old bottling that was stored for 3 years in Bourbon Cask and then for another 6 years in Port Cask.
Unfortunately bottled in 40%, that was common back then, believe it or not.
Smell: The nose is a bit subtle, I notice a lot of dried fruit, mainly red fruits, cranberries, cherries, raisins, blackberries. Some gum, similar to sherry, follows. In the background there is some bourbon wood aroma with a little vanilla and a darker barrel aroma. A good smell for the 9 years, but unfortunately the dilution has taken away a lot of the intensity. The rum may got nicely balanced as a result.
Taste: Thin start with burnt sugar, vanilla and some dried fruits (raisins, plums, some red fruit). Of course, the dilution is noticeable, but the flavors are good. It becomes woodier in the mouth, barrel aromas follow and also some tannins with wood. It also becomes astringent in the mouth, tannins in combination with dried fruit are now strongly present on the palate. Now we have the red fruit here.
In the finish, the sharpness increases, it teases the palate slightly. The tannins come out a little more and the oak now dominates the taste. The barrel aromas and dried fruits are still on the palate.
A nice Foursquare for only 9 years, I don't know whether that is the dilution or whether it was already good in barrel strength. It was definitely intense and quite good in cask strength.
The dilution took away a lot from it, but it offers nice complexity for the 9 years.
I'm not sure if I'd rather have this one or a simpler detente with more abv. I would go for the Detente, rum means intensity of flavors for me.
If diluted to 40%, then maybe sweetened so that the intensity remains correspondingly high.
