Very drinkable, but not as much depth or character as Chairman's Legacy.
Fairly light nose, some caramel, and mild spice character. Pretty light on the palate too, but nothing offensive; some dark fruity tones, a smokey note, light oak, hint of vanilla. Molasses on the finish with a pleasant bitterness (mild for sure, but it's there). Almost no burn. This might shine more at a higher ABV, why not 43%?
I do like it, but for the price, Legacy is the way to go as it is less expensive and just a better rum in my opinion.
Received this bottle at Christmas and surprised at how unimpressed I was with it. Honestly I expected to be blown away and ranking it as an "8" but after noting the communities ratings and comments I couldn't help but agree. Don't get me wrong - its not terrible and in fact very respectable but just doesn't live up to the marketing of the "forgotten cask" and the price tag vs other better rated "7" rums.
Nez leger. Fruité, sur la canelle et ananas. Rhum avec du corps, arriere gout salin et long en bouche
Bought on special so I am not unhappy with the price but was really excited to be trying this. I am glad I could tick it off tbh but not overly impressed. It’s a nice rum, a bit chewy and relative depth on the palate but didn’t inspire me to want to buy again.
A little water down on the finish. Was expecting more from Chairman Reserve.
Little disappointed really. Fairly smooth on the rocks. Little bit of wood flavor raisin and not much else. Not overly sweet little dry which are two things I like but just really nothing special. Like i said, it is nice and that is it. As far as St. Lucia rums go HMS Princessa and HMS Royal Oak are unquestionably superior.
It still has a slightly smokey, tobacco-ey taste and smell to it.
"The extra ageing has added an extra depth of flavour (if not smoothness) to the rum."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label
