Got this sample for free from RumX.
It’s a column distilled rum distilled in 1998 at the Bellevue estate in Bass-Terre that produces Rhum Damoiseau and therefore not to be confused with the Bellevue distillery in Marie Galante.
It’s aged for 23 years, of which 6 years is made in the tropics and the rest continentally whereafter it’s bottled in 249 bottles at 53,9%.
It’s not clear if the distillate is a blend of rum made from cane juice and molasses, but I believe so cause there’s lots of rum from this distillery that is. Anyway I’m pretty sure that its not an Agricole.
The aromas is round, elegant, fruity, smoky and spicy with hints of oak, leather and tar.
In mouth and at palate it’s dry, spicy and oily with hints of orange, tar and oak together with some sweetness.
During the long finish it’s spicy, smoky and woody.
Overall an round and elegant rum that have great aromas, and that’s in opposite to edition 2 lives up to the aromas in its taste.
