Hard to beat. Similar profile to Plantation 3 Stars but without the funk and the extra sweetness. This is truly a bar-staple! Shines in a Daiquiri, Missionary's Downfall, etc. I love that they didn't filter all the color out, means some of those oils got left behind.
I bought this for some home experiments, but felt the need to taste it before I began. It was not bad, but reminded me of a tequila for some reason. Probably lack of sleep. :) It would be great for addition to some cocktails, but I probably wouldn't sip it.
Now, I'll see how it tastes after a maple stick has been submerged for a couple of weeks.
Not a bad white rum for the price. It will do in a pinch.
Ikke meget nuance og en anelse sprittet smagen. Eftersmagen ok.
Not too sweet or rich. A soft flavor, and I think would be a good introduction to lightly aged rums for someone new to the arena.
Title sums it up. Not overly dry, and works well as a mixer, or with just lime and ice.
At this price point, an age statement and notable flavor profile should earn a decent score on value alone. Better than most "white" rums in the price range, probably not a sipper but definitely up to the task in cocktails like a daquiri.
For the price conscious.
Nowhere near as good as probitas for complexity in a white rum, but perfectly good in a mixed drink, and superior to most other white rums out there in this price range or below.
Foursquare has an excellent reputation. Their Probitas I rated higher than this one-which is more expensive and higher proof. Thought I would like this better. Some alcohol burn. Very subtle vanilla flavor. Fine as a mixer, but not a sipper.
Finish is longer and more spicy.
"Quite heavy on the vanilla notes but has a little beef to it."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Looking for a premium tequila at my favorite liquor store, it had been a while since I checked their rum section. I expected to find nothing after having rated 107 rums, but there it was! All three of The Real McCoys; 3 year, 5 year, and 12 year. I already tried the 5 year and did not care for it's heavily wooded flavor, so I bought the other two.
I had to test this 3 year old "white" rum against my favorite white rum known as Cana Brava 3 year old from Panama. No contest due to the heavy initial burn on my tongue from this Real McCoy. How it gets it's pale yellow color is beyond me.
On another note, the current obsession with completely dry rums puzzles me. Yes, if one plans to sip these neat, then by all means go for it. However, very few of these dry rums (including this one) are good enough to sip neat. Feeling ripped off in buying this bottle, I used 12 ounces of it to make a 24 ounce batch of original daiquiris. This is one of sour (lime juice), two of sweet, (simple syrup), three of strong (rum), and four of weak (ice added later). With that much simple syrup added, this drink now has more added sugar than one of those sugar bombs. So even if these dry rums are not used to make daiquiris, there is no doubt that whatever is added as a mixer will contain sugar. Can I say, "Colossal DUH!!!!"?
And by the way, this rum is not good enough to drink on the rocks. Having no additives is it's only selling point, which is only an excuse to jack up the price beyond what it is really worth. There are at least six white rums that I would rate better than this one. It is not the worst white rum that I tried, but when price is considered, I will never buy it again.
