This Rasta Morris Release is a molasses rum from Trinidad, which was produced in the TDL (Trinidad Distillery Limited) in the column still. The rum was then allowed to be stored in oak barrels for 8 years tropically and 5 years continentally. It was then filled into 253 bottles as a single cask at a cask strength of 67.5% alcohol without filtration, sugar or other additives.
This TDL is very closed on the nose. I don't find typical dirty notes. The rum has a sweet nose. Candied fruits and vanilla. Young wood and toasty aromas. The picture is repeated on the palate. Beautiful candied tropical fruit with a virgin oak. A little spice and then more barrel maturity. Tannins become more intense and accompany the finish, which has a hint of mint. Everything is locked here too.
This rum is good and drinkable. If you are looking for classic TDL notes, you will be disappointed here. Even a little water doesn't help, it just makes it a mild. Reminds me a lot of a Virgin Oak Finish. If I didn't know better, I would say it is a Panama rum. In the end, I'm glad I didn't buy a whole bottle.
Der Rasta Morris ist ein Melasse Rum aus Trinidad, welcher in der TDL (Trinidad Distillery Limited) im Column Still hergestelt wurde. Der Rum durfte anschließend 8 Jahre tropisch und 5 Jahre kontinental in Eichenholz Fässern lagern. Anschließend wurde er in einer Fassstärke von 67,5% Alkohol ohne Filtration, Zucker oder anderen Zusatzstoffen in 253 Flaschen als Single Cask abgefüllt.
Dieser TDL ist in der Nase sehr verschlossen. Typische dreckige Noten finde ich nicht. Der Rum hat eine süße Nase. Kandierte Früchte und Vanille. Junges Holz und Röstaromen. Am Gaumen wiederholt sich das Bild. Schöne kandierte tropische Früchte mit einem Jungen Holz. Etwas Würze und dann mehr Fassreife. Tannine werden intensiver und belgeiten den Abgang, welcher einen Hauch von Minze bereit hält. Auch hier ist alles verschlossen.
Dieser Rum ist gut und man kann ihn gut trinken. Wer klasische TDL Noten sucht wird hier aber enttäuscht sein. Auch ein wenig Wasser hilft nicht, sondern macht ihn nur etwas milder. Erinnert mich sehr an einen Virgin Oak. Würde ich es nicht besser wissen, würde ich auf einen Panama Rum tippen. Am Ende bin ich froh, keine ganze Flasche gekauft zu haben.
