I finally got my hands on a bottle of this 10 year old super premium rum from Bacardi for $75 US. Their Gran Reserva Diez 10 year old that I recently rated as a 7 inspired me to give this one a try. The aroma and taste and finish just floored me to instantly rate it as an 8. As you can tell, I am speechless! However, it is not quite worth rating as a 9 or 10, but definitely better than a 7. Most of my reviews wind up as a 7 or 6, and that is with advice from fellow reviewers. This one just overwhelms the senses in a really good way! I also could have never dreamed that a Bacardi product could beat the pants off of El Dorado 21.

Now that my wheels are turning upstairs, this thought needs to be tried out. Since this one is also the same age as the Gran Reserva Diez that is about half the price, I need to buy another bottle of that one to compare side by side. As usual, I will update my review as to the results at a later date.

Update 2 days later: As promised, I tested this one side by side against it's 10 year old Gran Reserva Diez from Bacardi. All they have in common is being the same age. They are not even the same color or pedigree. So yes, this Facundo Eximo is worth twice the price of the Bacardi Gran Reserva Diez.

Great color, sweetish aroma, not real peppery if that not your thing.

For the price I expected to be more. It has a firey nose but a smooth taste. It falls flat, smooth but not much depth. A hint of oak is about all you taste. For the price I wouldn't buy again.

Chuť: Vanilka a výrazné dubové dřevo
Dozvuk: Hořké dřevo, na chvíli se objeví čokoláda a pak opět jen dlouhá hořkost.
Sladkost: 2/3
Ochutnán vzorek
Velmi plochý rum, kde výrazně dominuje hořké dřevo.

This is one of my go to rums.
Sweet not sugary and goes down with very little bite. A sipper any time and with a couple of drops of water it's just opens it up.

Recently a Family member and I gifted each other rums. We ended up with Bacardi Diez as well as Bacardi Facundo Eximo. I found that the Diez had a bit of burn but was very Tasty whether that was neat, on the rocks or mixed. This Facundo Eximo was smoother but have very slightly less taste although the difference was arguably negligible. This is an excellent rum which i enjoy once or twice a month. This is currently my second bottle and would buy again.

I’m questioning why I purchased this again. Nice bottle and stopper great golden brown color but on the first taste it just leaves me short. It is very smooth almost watered down taste even neat. Funky little aftertaste I can’t place. It’s like why bother at this price level, just move up to Exquisito, or for less Centenario 25, Eldorado 12 or 15, Pampero, many others. Maybe my taste buds are too elevated after sampling several different Foursquare rums recently all 8-9.
