I expected less from this being their entry level line but really enjoyed it. My sense of smell is never great but this is by far the least noticeable of my rums tried thus far. Some nice bold flavours initially filling my mouth turning it into a smile although dissipated fairly quickly. Something I will enjoy again. A distinctive mild pleasant liquorice aftertaste..
Nice lightly aged blended rum! This rum is not a sipper, but it’s a great value for a great mixer. This one is a workhorse for my cocktail hobby.
There are some notes of oak in there (I find oak to be a hallmark of Appleton rums). This rum has some character, as well, which I like a lot when mixing it. It’s robust enough to add something to a cocktail.
For its age and price this rum is wonderful.
It has a distinct taste and one needs to be ready for it. It’s not an expensive rum, and can add some flare to a good cocktail.
It doesn't seem as funky as my beloved Myers Dark, but still a solid, reliable, mixing Jamaican rum. I'm looking forward to trying an aged Appleton Estate.
Hard to classify this new incarnation ot the Signature Blend - it does not fulfill its expected role of a Jamaica mixer, as it has only a hint of the characteristic esthery overripe banana smell and taste. On the other hand, there is surprisingly some oak present in both smell and taste instead (unusual for an equivalent of a gold mixer), then a hint of banana, spicy aftertaste with a bit of a sour twist and bit of an alcohol kick. For this price, it is of course not a neat sipper, in coke it actually more resembles whisky than typical Jamaica rum.
On it's own, it really isn't great.
With a mixer, or as part of a blend in a cocktail, it's serviceable.
There are better rums in the price bracket.
This rum is meant for mixing and not to be sipped. Good for a rum and cola.
It was a little hard to drink this on the rocks. I’m sure it’s a good mixer but a solid 4 finger pour straight or on the rocks is not the way to drink this rum. Hints of the classic Appleton characteristics but I’ll stick with their better blends.
I'll bump this one up on my personal list after broadening my Jamaican horizons. While not as robust as the 8 year, the funk and spicy burn is still there, and that's something that I've come to like.
This is probably going to be my go-to rack-grade rum when I want something that I won't feel heretical for mixing in cola or gingerale
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

This rum is a nice smooth finish with just enough flavor from both aging and a very slight Jamaica funk. Outside of a few cocktails, this should be the standard rum, especially since it's affordable.
