Appleton Estate Rare Casks 12-Year

Low on funk, but high in sippability. Great introductory rum.

I really enjoyed this. Gave it a 9. It was my first Jamaican, and I can really feel the funk everyone’s been talking about, but it’s not too funky. I think it’s not my favorite, but very good.

Bright, fruity notes with a bit of hogo at the end. Could be a sipper.

My journey has mainly been on the more expensive rums so take my comments with a grain of salt. First it tastes fine for the price point although many claim to find better for less. I enjoyed the aroma and taste of this rum. The light funk, spice/orange/banana were pleasant. I’m going to take Paul B’s suggestion and try the 8 year to see if the price difference is worth the taste. Happy sailing on your rum journey.

IMO Appleton makes some solid rums. The 12 is great for sipping. Not too hot, good amount of sweet without tasting like syrup at all. Great scent.

This is one that for me isn't as good as the unaged reserve exclusiva ..the flavours are there and deep in depth but for once prefer the cheaper option .

Never been a fan of Appleton but this rum serves as its mid-range offering. It is pretty smooth and is distinct in that its oak flavour is more pronounced. Worth a try but I wouldn't go too far out of your way to make it happen.
