Legendario Elixir de Cuba 7-Year

Sugar: estimated 70 to 80 gpl. As far as rum goes this is liqueur, and a very good one at that. It has a strong taste of raisins and is very sweet but the rum taste is still there. The only way to drink this with ice. If you are in Cuba it's well worth picking up a bottle as it quite good.

Legendario Elixir de Cuba 7y je sice řazen mezi rumy, je však odlišný, jedná se o jakýsi mezičlánek mezi rumem a rumovým likérem. Vyrábí se v Havaně v původním rodinném podniku od roku 1946, nyní samozřejmě dávno zestátněném. Základem pro výrobu jsou rumy „añejo“, tedy letité, které následně zrají metodou solera v sudech z amerického bílého dubu další 2 až 4 roky. Sladký charakter Elixiru de Cuba udávají rozinky, které jsou nakonec v destilátu macerovány po dobu jednoho měsíce. Výsledkem je rum velmi hutný, s téměř sirupovou konzistencí, která připomene ledová nebo slámová vína. Ve sklenici po zakroužení doslova „slzí“, kapky stékají po skle jen pomalu a těžce.

Aroma: Vůně je velmi plná, hutná, připomíná lesní med, dále v aroma nacházím čokoládu, težkou ovocnou přezrálost, rozinky a melasu. (83 b)
Chuť: Chuť je velmi sladká, a to mnohem víc než třeba Zacapa 23y, tady má Elixir de Cuba mnohem blíž k likérům, třeba Kahlúe, než ke klasickým rumům. Nektarová sladkost se nejvíc projeví při prvním poválení po jazyku, ale naštěstí zde není jen tato jedna nudná poloha, ale přechází trochu i do ostrosti, což mě vzhledem k poměrně nízkému obsahu alkoholu překvapilo. Dokončení je lahodné. (83 b)

Shrnutí: První dojem byl pro mě lehkým zklamáním, ale postupně jsem v tomhle sladkém elixíru našel docela zalíbení. Jedná se o rum, který budete muset před něžným pohlavím zamykat. Slušný je i poměr výkon/cena, sedmička stála asi 530 korun.

7:On the nose, it's sweet and warm. The notes of macerated grapes, raisins are complimented by vanilla and light tobacco notes with some glue, other fruits, woody and metallic addition.
6,8:On the palate, the liquorish attack is strong. Vanilla and caramel combined with discreet fruity(macerated grapes) notes make up the profile with spicy, herbal and honey notes. There is also a touch of alcohol.
7:The finish is moderately long and marked by sweetness and roundedness inspite of the sweet rum profile.
It is a pleasant, easy sipper for evenings, though some find the aroma and taste of glue to be a bit off-putting. It also goes nice with some Cohiba.

I like sweet sort of rum, this one is over the boundary but behind this little bit tacky sweetness is something very interesting, gorgeous and delicious. It is like a dessert, you cannot have too much of it but it caresses the senses.

A very pleasant and smooth rum to drink.
Even closer to a liqueur rum (which it is). Strong notes of raisins and honey.
Especially suitable for companies and those looking for something new in rum flavours.

Legendario - Elexir de Cuba : a gorgeous name that suggest me a great taste !
Fortunately I didn't bought a big bottle, just had a gratis 5 cl sample.
Nose : like an undifined cleaner, kind of wood, unpleasant sweet. Uhhh.
Palate : honey, syrup, very sweet and sticky. No, this has nothing common with a rum. Typical liqueur with less flavors.
Finish : fortunately short to medium. Liqueur typical. Syrup. Really no rum taste.
Conclusion : Regarding the price I didn't had big expactations to that drink but these exiguous were still exceeded. For liqueur lovers okay, for rum lovers not advisable.

Za naozaj málo peňazí. Výrazne sladký blend s veľmi dominantnými hrozienkami. Pre moje chuťové bunky fajnota, kde tu si dať pohárik. Pomer cena/výkon fantastický (fľaša cca. 18€)

I have heard a lot legends! This guy is simply too sweet 4 me!
