I received this as a Christmas gift. I'm not usually big on Spiced rums, but I found this rather enjoyable. It's not something that I would buy, but it works OK in a rum & Coke Zero.
Tiene un toque suave, ligeramente dulce, un sabor inigualable, lo recomiendo 100%
To be perfectly honest, my area of expertise in rum is the cheap to mid range priced rums, and this is the second most expensive rum I've ever bought. It's also in my top 2 rums, and honestly I think this is ever so slightly better than the other. Sweet, tropical, everything you'd expect in a "private stock" pirate rum. Absolutely delicious.
In comparing this to bumbu I will pick this version of Captain Morgan every time because of the price. But it does not even come close Foursquare spiced rum which admittedly is not as sweet as Captain Morgan but if I am buying spiced rum I want spiced rum not really spiced rum that thinks sugar is a spice. Too sweet for me but can certainly understand why it is popular. It was not a bad rum certainly better than regular Captain Morgans but for $6 or 7$ a bottle less I will take foursquare spiced rum everyday of the week.
Good mixer but not as good as a sipper. you can find better elsewhere for the same price: Nicaragua, haiti.
Good solid rum. Has a great aftertaste. You get a hint of spice and molasses. Smooth drinking and smells great. Not as tasty as some I’ve had but still very good.
ok for college kids I guess :-(
If this is the best you’ve ever had, ya gotta start branching out!
Okay this rum is spiced and sugared and the opinions differ about that. But if you are open for experiments (like my rate for the Dos Maderas 5+5) you can enjoy this Private Stock.
He did really well and you can drink it neat. And that is very rare for a spiced rum.
Sweet, but not to sweet, a lot of vanilla, some nuts and a little almond and cinnamon. Well balanced. Really great taste in a really nice bottle. For me a good 8.
Update on 04/13/23 :
minus 1 point for less alcohol than labeled, so only 7 now
While this isn't something that I am going to keep on hand in my bar, I will choose it over the other rums from Captain Morgan. But the last time I had this mixed with coke, I could actually taste the alcohol as an after taste and it was a total turn off for me. While there are better rums out there, if you want something readily available at almost any liquor store or grocery store, go with this.
Captain Morgan was actually a 17th century Welsh pirate...

Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

It's like kraken if kraken didn't suck. Not a smooth sipper, thick oily and sweet but gets way too much heat. I don't care for it that much because of the excessive amounts of molasses/brown sugar with vanilla. It makes a distinct diet coke and rum but I think there are better options. Especially for it's price (25$)
