Ron Zacapa XO Rum is produced in the highlands of Guatemala where it is distillled from fresh cane juice. The rum is then aged from 6 to 23 years at 7544 feet above sea level at 62 °F (17 °C) using the solera process. The solera aging process incorporates barrels that previously held American whiskeys, sherries, wines and Cognac
The unique Ron Zacapa XO glass decantur features an impression of a woven band around the middle, which is in reference to the original hand woven palm leaf petate bottle cover that covered the bottle

I like it better vs the 23 from Zacapa but honestly don't like it much. This is a product that has brought a number of people back to rum but it's not for me personally. It's due to a level of additives that leaves me wondering what the real rum was. I have others that i prefer. Will leave it at that.
To be the best, you have to drink the best. This group does an outstanding job and when looking for a sipping rum, it's my go to.
I ordered 5cl of this rum at a bar, so I don't know it too good. But I can tell you for sure that this is an excellent choice! A bit harsh in aftertaste but still smooth all in all. Strong and nutty flavour and full body. But for at least € 65,- in the supermarket I can almost have 2 bottles of Gold of Mauritius (which is my favourite at the moment). If you like the taste of Ron Zacapa XO, then try the much cheaper and smoother version of it: Gold of Mauritius :)
Little sweetness, smooth, hints of honey, full flavour, this one is very nice for sipping and spending a relaxed evening with good friends. Very enjoyable.
Para mi tan rico como el 23 pero no se merece el sobre-coste.
Ron zacapa really shows the muscles here. There XO is really packt whit aroma deep and Sweet. A neat and Sweet taste full of rich flavours
An excellent rum. Very smooth and tasty. Good value for money.
Its good rum, no doubt. But for the money, I can think of others I would buy first. There is plenty left at the end of the tasting, so maybe it gets better at the bottom of the bottle - we will see.
This was the first 100$ rum i bought. I was very very exited about it. The box , the decanter are a beauty. Just opening it makes you feel you are about to experience the next level.
Then the taste.... I didn't like it. Sure it is very complex, the afterburn is amazing, you can taste it's age but i don't like the taste as much. It is very close to a sherry/porto and bourbon and if i want a sherry, i'll drink a sherry.
I tried to let it breath a bit but still not my thing. I find the sherry taste overpowering. 7/10
Avec ses notes de cognac et de cerise, c'est une nouvelle dimension que ce rhum apporte au Solera 23.
Il est bien cher mais je suis très heureux d'avoir pu le partager avec mes proches.

It is rich with coffee notes and a little tobacco.

Very well balanced, but almost too matured. It trades some of the sweetness in the Solera 23 for quite a lot more oak, and I'm not sure I'm all for that, especially when it's so expensive
