Guatemala | Aged | 40% ABV | Column Still (1-4)
Ron Zacapa 23 Solera Rum was created in 1976 in the highlands of Guatemala, where it is distilled in a copper-lined column still from fresh cane juice before solera aging.
The 500 year-old Spanish Sistema Solera method is used to age Ron Zacapa 23 in white oak casks. This results in a combination of rums aged between 6 and 23 years.
The current Ron Zacapa 23 bottle features a woven band around the middle, which is in reference to the original hand woven palm leaf petate bottle cover that covered the bottle.

Perfect smell, nice bottle, tasty light rhum with nice color.
I got exited when i heard about sistema solera so i gave it a try ! nice taste but i dont think that's one of my favorites! not even close to my greatest !
SucrΓ© mais pas lourd, bon, agrΓ©able. Toutefois pas exceptionnel. Gagnerait Γ Γͺtre un peu plus complexe, surtout pour le prix; un peu cher pour ce qu'il offre.
Sweet but not heavy, good, nice. However not exceptional. Would be a little more complex, especially for the price; A bit pricey for what it offers.
Which infact I did, on the same boat trip returning from Norway. I bought the Plantation in the tax-free shop, but Zacapa was the one they had available at the bar. It has quite a strong nose, and a pretty strong burn too. If you are not ticked-off by added sugar this is a good rum to enjoy! It's one that puts a smile on my face anytime.
A great rum for mixing, cooking, or for drinking on the rocks when you have run out of the XO!
Sweet, smooth and a bit ordinary for my taste, as well as overprized - going to use the rest of the bottle for mixing i guess.
Excellent rum, full taste, not too sweet or harsh. not for mixing but for pure sipping.
it's sweet, yes. for me it is a good standard rum, you can drink all the time

Actually quite dry and oaky.
"Flavour builds if you leave the rum in your mouth for a little longer allowing it to coat the palate."
Wonderfully intricate with honeyed butterscotch, spiced oak and raisined fruit...

Decanted, the rum displays a surprising body in the glass for something so apparently light, and has slow and strong legs down the side of the glass.
